From the moment I opened the book I found this book hard to use. The organization is less than adequate and it is down right hard to find anything in it let alone be able to get relevant information out of it to make a care plan!If you plan on using this book make sure you have plenty of other books to get your interventions from and your rationals for your care plans as this book has neither of these in them! A friend had suggested to be Betty J Ackley book and I took their advice and I am so happy. Making a care plan with Ackley's book is a dream NANDA, INterventions and rationals all in one book and all for less than 12 bucks for an older edition or 40 or so for the newer one!I am still upset that carpinito book is required by my school since it is worthless and will just be a doorstop or something to put my beer on!If you don't take my word for it ask a nursing student at your school and find out for your self how worthless they think this book is!Keep your money because you will need it to buy other books that are useful.

The book does what is it supposed to as it has useful information; however, I was a little embarrassed when the first time I used it I realized the author had mispelled Nursing on the side binding. There is no way to contact the author of the book. All in all, the book serves its purpose but again it's embarrassing to go to class and have a book that cannot spell the name of the program you are attending. Order did arrive on time.

This is a strange little book. There isn't any particular sense to the way it is set out, it's filled with little symbols that don't have any explanation, and some common disorders are not even mentioned. I'm not familiar with alternative nursing diagnosis books, but I'd recommend for nursing students to look around for an alternative.

This book is a front to back reader. Carpenito does an excellent job with the correct verbage for Nursing Diagnosis. She is the best front end writter for an explanation of what the process is. She is obviously analytical. When it comes to procedures, she writes them out... She gives author notes that thourougly explains pitfal's. I find the book lacking on goal statements, and I wish the procedures were organized by Assessment, Therapeutic Interventions, Informing, continued attending and management. I really get tired of reading through vebage when i am looking for a specific thing like the therapeutic intervention. If I was looking for the perfect book. I would use this one with Spark's and Tayors Nursing Diagnosis. Spark's and Taylors is organized to a microdot level. They give you the goals written (important) and organize the nursing interventions.I really recommend reading this book from front to back to any nursing student. All the NCLEX questions come from these books, If I had nursing school to do all over again, I would read this book first, I think it would have taken me to an A level on nursing questions. It is hard reading because it is not entertaining, but if you consider all of the stress you will go through answering the NCLEX questions, you will want to find the author and just hug her. I can not believe that there is not a course that just teaches nursing diagnosis. If i ran a school there would be, when I consider the splash effect they aim for this would have been a great key.

I have a love hate relationship with this book, although it is essential for the nursing diagnosis process. The pocket size of this book is great! Filled with everything you need to know, it's kind of complicated but if you take the time to read the beginning it makes more sense. If your instructor/RN manager suggests you get a nursing diagnosis book this is definitely the one you want! Super convenient!

Really helpful for writing care plans. This is a pocket version so that you can easily fit it in a purse or your scrub pockets. Many of my nursing classmates have commented on how they wish theirs was pocket sized too. It is a great feature.

The 14th edition had multiple ways for grouping nursing diagnoses. I found the grouping by medical condition particularly helpful. The Kindle version was very easy to navigate and cut down on the time I would normally take searching through the book.

its a little disorganized for students that just started in fundamentals. It would've been better if the NDX revolved around different conditions instead of trying to figure out which condition is appropriate for each NDX.
