This is a great book. I am a nurse at a doctor's office and we call with lab results for six doctors. When a patient asks what the results mean, I can tell them in concise terms from Mosby's. If there are other tests scheduled, I can also let them know about the new tests ordered. Great resourse!
Kindle version is the way to go with this Manual if you use a tablet a lot. Totally searchable; easy to navigate; the way e-books should be - better than a bulky hard-copy.
I absolutely love this book. It is a MUST for anyone in nursing school (or any medical profession), even if your program doesn't require it. As a student who barely reads any of her texts, that is a high compliment. It is a great reference book and would be an excellent tool when initially learning about the tests as well. The book lists many, many labs and gives you the normal and abnormal values, what could cause them to be too high or too low, and what you should do to treat the abnormal labs. I haven't used it much for the diagnostic testing part, but I have looked through it and it has everything. I imagine I will keep this book until it falls apart. I have told everyone I can in my program that they need this book. Seriously, I love it that much. If you are in nursing school, buy this book. I hate spending money on expensive textbooks, but this one... worth every single penny.
I use this book almost every day in conjunction with my drug guide to be well informed of my patients tests and am better able to read labs this book uses laymans terms so you dont have to understand all the medical jargon
I bought this as the Kindle version and I love it. At the hospital I can pull it up on my phone, click on the value I'm looking for in the index and viola! Super easy to use, has the pediatric/neonate ranges, and is easy to read/understand! Super recommend!
Excellent of course but I'm partial to Mosby's as our preferred resource used at work; had to buy my own resource books for work with this new job and of course I bought what I'm accustomed to using. Superb format and layout with pics and info galore.
Very helpful, concise and easy navigation. It has good practical information and helps explain why/how a test works for diagnosing a condition. Should be a standard text.
I am a physician and get a lot of use out of the Mosby Manual of Diagnostic and Lab Tests. Gives a lot of good information for each lab test including interfering factors, causes of abnormal results, etc. I would recommend this to any clinician who needs a lab reference book.
