Overall, this book is not too bad, yet it contains many mistakes in its practice section and that is uncalled for in the medical world and why I give it only one star. Also, I think that they make things a bit more confusing than is necessary. Best thing to do is find something else. Lorrie Hegstad's Essential Drug Dosage Calculation is one of my favorites, it does not have as many exercises as other books, but is good at explaining the basics.

I agree with Oreste's review regarding the Brown/Mulholland text. Parts are quite good introductory material, but unfortunately other portions are misleading (read WRONG). See, for an example, the calculations explained and illustrated in Chapter 8, Parenteral Nutrition.

Our faculty preference is the ratio and proportion method. We prefer a text that presents only one method thoroughly. This text is the best I've seen for simplicity of design and ease of understanding. We've used it for 4 semesters and our students like it very much

I believe that the information presented in this book is confusing. I have found an alternate way to do the same calculations which is less confusing in my opinion. It would be nice if there were a couple of different methods shown and people could choose whichever method works best for them. Many of my classmates are struggling with the same confusion. Once I show them the way I calculate the same problems, they usually comment on how much easier my way is and wonder why the book makes something that can be so easy, so difficult.
