Foye's Principles Of Medicinal Chemistry (Lemke, Foye's Principles Of Medicinal Chemistry)
Available To Downloads

The Sixth Edition of this well-known text has been fully revised and updated to meet the changing curricula of medicinal chemistry courses. Emphasis is on patient-focused pharmaceutical care and on the pharmacist as a therapeutic consultant, rather than a chemist. A new disease state management section explains appropriate therapeutic options for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and men's and women's health problems. Also new to this edition: Clinical Significance boxes, Drug Lists at the beginning of appropriate chapters, and an eight-page color insert with detailed illustrations of drug structures. Case studies from previous editions and answers to this edition's case studies are available online at thePoint.

It amazes me that a book in its 6th edition would still have so many errors. In chapter 2 alone I found 5 errors. As a student, it makes me wonder how many more errors there are that I am just accepting as fact. It provides sparse case studies, but the answers are not given in the book, and many of the answers are not given online either to the students, and are only available for professors to see. Perhaps wait for the 7th edition to come out, and hope that they iron out the mistakes they made in this one.

What can I say, this book is great. A terrific resource for the study of Medicinal Chemistry. It's what the faculty recommend using for my Medicinal Chemistry program, and it is often referenced by professors.

I am in pharmacy school and this was a requirement. I definitely can't say there's anything wrong with the book because I never really used it. In truth our professor picked out the information from the chapters as he felt were most relevant and presented the information via powerpoint.

While this text does a fairly good job on explaining the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of many agents, I was surprised to find out that there was not one -at least brief- chapter devoted to immunomodulators such as the calcineurin inhibitors (e.g., cyclosporine A, CSA); sure, you could find some limited information on CSA but nothing that would be sufficient for a research project on these types of immunomodulators. So, that was disappointing because I was looking for specific information on the biochemical/molecular pathway of CSA-induced hyperlipidemia. I ended up spending some hours researching several journals and finally came across one that provided me with some answers to my questions.

I purchased this edition to help me through my med-chem/ pharmacology class as a P2. Even though there's a newer addition out there, I found this still served as an excellent adjunct resource.

This book is a required text for the University course it was purchased for. It is a quality hard bound reference text and will be a valuable resource for years to come.

This book was a very useful tool for me to understand my Organic Chemistry Class. However, I don't recommend it for light reading.

good book for my class. I just read the bold and figure since those were the key points that professors like to test on
