If you are doing any research on Irish ancestry, you NEED this book. Nothing else compares to it! It includes solid research for Ireland, Canada and the US, as well as other countries where emigrants settled. Even if you have previous editions, get this one, get it now!
An excellent starting point for anyone doing family history research into Irish origins. Lots of website links recommended and primary sources compared to save guess work - no sense spending hours online only to find the information one is seeking is actually not accessible. Chapter lay-out gives accurate means to target information later and good explanations are offered at every step to help refine searches. Recommended.
Here are all the links you may find useful in this difficult task. Also offline search access methods, for sources not yet digitized. You need this reference to do serious work in this field.
There is important information that most websites do not tell you, or refer you to. This book will answer questions concerning why certain information cannot be found, or if available were to find it. Also, unlike England's General Registrars Office, Ireland has different offices for Ireland and Northern Ireland. You will find these in this book.
This is a very comprehensive guide to Irish genealogy. I found it very useful. It is a little bit harder to read than some genealogy books as it has more of a textbook approach. But it gives all the data and is an excellent reference work.
John Grenham is a preeminent expert on Irish genealogy. This book is a must have for anyone looking for Irish ancestors. It includes countless sources and best methods to find family history in Ireland.
This authour provides just about everything you need to know about tracing your Irish ancestry. I made a feeble attempt using information from a previously owned website, but this guy knows his stuff! Look no further if you have an interest in this subject.
Very informative. A great help to all genealogists, both amateur and pro's alike. It is so easy to see a trace and go off at a tangent and end up with the wrong info, the wrong ancestor. This book helps determine ancestors without doubts.
