Needed it for an online class offered by the University of New England. Although I don't usually purchase text books, I went ahead and bought this one for the class. It is your typical texbook. Sad part is, like every other class I've taken in my undergraduate and graduate career, I didn't need the textbook to do fine in the class. Fortunately I only rented it on Kindle. I assume this book is just as good as any other out there.
This text was very useful for both the terminology course I took and for brushing up on medical knowledge in general. Went well beyond the base of the word and etymology to let you know a good bit of what each term is used for, where it is commonly used and the definitions.
Got this older edition than the requested one for the Medical Terminology online class of the University of New England. The professor will give you the words via lecture, while you can write them all out, an actual view-able book is far more useful to me personally. Sometimes I read books or not, but I'm glad I bought this book for the course as it made things so much easier. Can't beat the overall price and the word list is pretty identical to the course. It is a little disease terms heavy in the reading sections, so a previous course done in human anatomy and physiology would go a long long way in soaking this material up.
Woohoo! I love medical terminology! It is hard, but interesting. You learn a lot about language. However, this is not a book I would read leisurely. This is definitely a class textbook to follow lecture in class.
honestly, it wasn't the best purchase but it was required for a class. they should have chosen a better book. this book presents lots of words and facts. It would have helped if they would have shown some way to remember the words.
Only complaint is the same as others have mentioned wherein there are no CD-ROMs accompanying the text book.
