This book does not have the CD required for accessing the CourseMate online study tools. This fact is not explained clearly either in the product description or the book itself. It has great questions, case studies, and crosswords at the end of each chapter but does not have the answers anywhere in the book. You either have to get the Instructor's Manual, CourseMate or hope the instructor will provide the answers. I bought this book in advance to prepare for the class starting in September, but without the answers it is challenging to know if you have a true understanding. The book is easy to read, and presented nicely, but without the back up of CourseMate or answers to the questions it is limited. I believe you can purchase the CourseMate CD separately for $150, that is not in my budget.
This is a require text for one of my Veterinary Tech classes. This is actually a pretty amazing book because it does a really nice job at making what can be pretty dry memorization, into something that might even be called fun (ok, that's stretching it a little bit.) The illustrations are good, chapter titles are humorous, and each chapter has a LOT of practice questions at the end. Unfortunately, it did not come with an answer key.It's pricey, but most textbooks are.
I haven't used it in class yet but I think it's very informative and the exercises have been fun (doing them on my own). We will start using the text next week, learning what male and female animals are called, both intact and Neutered/Spayed. Although today we learned that it's only called that for dogs and cats.
This book makes medical terminology about as interesting as you can. It is very clear and has everything organized so that it follows an order and makes sense as you read it. Rather than just being a bunch of words to memorize.
Fantastic book. A must for every Vet Assistant and Vet Tech program. If your class isn't using this book, buy it. You won't be disappointed.
BUY THIS BOOK! If you are in vet school, vet tech school or working with animals in any helping capacity. THIS SHOULD BE REQUIRED FOR EVERYONE! I even photocopy the workpages for my classmates.
