I bought this book for my husband when we first found out that I was pregnant. we were both very nervous and excited about everything. I, of course, bought myself 10 books on what to expect but it was much harder to find a good book for a dad to be! some of the other books for dads werent very informative about anything and were acctually very selfish. they didnt explain anything and my husband is very kind and loveing, so he didnt appreciate some young mans "how to be a jerk" book. this book is WONDERFUL! it explains so much from what I am going through week by week and month by month. it explain symptoms and emotions on both his and my part. It gave him ideas on ways he can help me around the house and through the rough days. and has better prepared both of us for the "big day". I Am so thankful that we found this book. it has done wonders for our little growing family and has really opened my husband's eyes to what I am going through. This guy must be a fantastic husband!!!
I have to say I was leery of reading any books on pregnancy because most of them looked cheesy. But I was pleasantly surprised as to how relatable this book was. It was a quick read. Lots of laughs and great tips for a guy who had no clue what to expect. Kudos to the author for getting me to read a book from front to back in less time than it took my wife to read her pregnancy book!
I read this book in addition to other similar books. It gave good insights, tought me what's coming, what I should know in advance. It helped become prepared and what I should or must do at each trimester and after birth. I give four stars.
While this is a somewhat enjoyable read, it's really nothing more than a glorified journal entry. It basically talks about what he and his wife went through without supplementing many scientific facts or outside sources. The writing is pretty below standard as well. Probably a nice guy, but not the best writer in the world. There are MUCH better baby books out there for new dad's. Two other ones I've really enjoyed are The Expectant Father (really good facts) and Pregnancy Sucks For Men (hilarious with nice facts).
Very good book for my husband. I enjoyed reading it as well. It's nice that it comes from personal experience. Not just a here's a book from a doctor about what you should and shouldn't expect. Very entertaining but also good information.
I actually really enjoy reading this book from start to finish. I myself just found out a few weeks ago then I'm going to be a dad, and I'm really excited. So naturally I wanted to find a book that catered to brand-new father to be information, and this book did not disappoint. I got a lot of information about how tos where tos. I guess the main thing that I got out of it was that it was not trying to be something it wasn't. It is a very basic and begin her guide for a dad to be. Go ahead and check it out, you will not be sorry.
I got this for my hubby because I thought it was important for him to have read a book on pregnancy too. Wasn't a whole lot out there that I thought he would actually read. This looked like it was right up his alley. He seemed to really enjoy it because he has told a couple of his buddies about it and has already ordered a Diaper Dude bag!
I felt like this book was more about selling me the authors Dad line than about informing me of what to expect. It is laid out by weeks in pregnancy and there is good info to be had, it just wasn't my thing.
