Generally, textbooks are dry affairs that one puts down once class is over. For Intimate Relationships, however, I found myself reading the material independent of class study; I honestly found it that interesting. The material is often directly applicable and you cannot help compare the research and examples to your own relationships.
Miller wrote Intimate Relationships with the information of a textbook (complete with research/study citations), though his conversational tone makes Intimate Relationships easy, if not enjoyable, to read.I rented this book because it was the required text for a college class I was taking. Having said that, I feel Intimate Relationships is an invaluable source for married couples. After several weeks of sharing what I learned with my husband, he began reading it with me. We gained insight and tools which benefitted and strengthened our relationship.
This book feels like a recruitment pamphlet for a conservative agency. What I got out of it was that if I do not find my one true love soon I will die alone and early and be miserable until sweet death finally claims me. Did not even touch on diverse relationships such as committed multi-partner relationships. There was a lovely page on same-sex relationships.......but that was about it. It felt like there might be some kind of agenda and less unbiased data.
This book is a good starter for people to understand themselves and others in relationships. I rented this book through , for a college course. Of course since it's a college book it is priced high everywhere, but it would be a good reference. This book is mostly interesting, and it's been a very easy read. There are far and few sections that I just want to read right through to get to the more interesting stuff. I recommend this to everyone who wants to understand relationships. Great book, just pricey.
This book is a great read. Although it is a textbook, the chapter titles alone make you want to read it. This book gives you a nice break down of relationships and everything that goes along with it.
This book is amazing. It breaks down relationships of all sorts and gives you the tools to improve your life.
I bought this book for a class. It was very eye-opening. I have applied some of the research and techniques to my personal life and have seen a real change. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to make a change in their relationships and in their lives. It was fascinating to read all of this research.
While this was a required textbook for a communication class, I found myself actually doing my readings for class. This book was a easy read and very enjoyable. Full of interesting facts that I've found myself citing in everyday conversation.I've even recommended the book to others just to read!
