This textbook was reader friendly. It is formatted in a way that was easy to read and also to look up main points. It was one that I needed for an online course and I got good use out of it. There are also questions at the end of each chapter and main ideas in bold to make studying easier. It is not a text that I dreaded using and it made the material easy to understand. I did rent this book instead of purchase it because of the cost and would recommend renting if it is available.
book rentals is awesome, but this text is awful. Cherlin moves from topic to topic without clear focus and throws terms and ideas at the reader like the village drunk tossing bottles at a wall.
