Rented this book for a Sociology class on death and dying. The class was great! I've been a paramedic for 15 years and I learned a lot of new information in the class. This book is terrible. It's hard to read and it's full of personal experiences by the authors. Parts are written that are extremely opinionated and one-sided. It just doesn't flow very well. It doesn't read like a textbook. Could have gotten the information I needed for the class much easier just using Google. The thing I find extremely surprising is the fact that the editors let CPR data from 1991 be put into the book! It's 2015! Wrongly, according to this text, 1 to 3 percent of out of hospital cardiac arrests don't survive. Looking at the American Heart Association, the correct percentage is actually 8%. So, this textbook uses data that is horribly out of date.
This was a required textbook purchase for a college class. Which has made me look at death in a different light.
Exactly what I needed for class
Great book
