As a foreigner who speaks english for almost twenty years, it's hard to find ways to keep developing, and also correct mistakes that comes with years without any real practice. In that matter, this grammar is perfect.
I ordered this book 3 weeks ago and after 2 weeks (from USA to Italy) it arrived. It's a must book, especially if you are studying to get the FCE exam (B2) or the CAE exam (C1). There are many units about:- Present and past; - Present perfect and past; - Future; - Modals; - Passive; - -ing and to; - Articles and nouns; - Relative clauses; - Conditions and prepositions; - Phrasal verbs; etc...Eventually, there are a lot of appendices, about verbs, the differences between the BrE and the AmE, spelling and about additional exercises. Maybe, a little weak point is the amount of exercises (not too many, in my view).
This is the best book for people who want to learn English as second language. For those ones who like study grammar this book is also the best one.
English is my second language and this book is very easy to read and is structured. It not only tells you what to say but WHY it is written or said that way. This book is an effective tool for college students also who seek to write essays with better grammar.
I have used this book several times and throughout my years of English classes I realized that many teachers use it to complement the regular workbooks. My father has used it and loved it, I have used it and loved it and now my wife uses it and is loving it. She often returns from the English class and opens the EGU to find the subject she just learned. She says that sometimes the book explains better in one page what her teacher wasn't able to explain clearly in a couple hours of class.
I bought this book, so far I like it, I have learnt new things. However, the CD with the test's answers are compatible with Windows 7 and XP, I have windows 8 and it is not compatible, therefore the CD is useless.

I use this book to teach English in USA. However, I have to call attention to all of you that, because this book follows English from England. So, words like theater, organization, etc., have a different spelling. It does not bother me, but I make sure my students learn the American way. Besides this, I highly recommend it.
