I love this book. I am a nurse myself and have witness a lot of dying patients.I believe all her stories are true because in my over 40 years of nursing experience i have seen the worse and best of people. Those who have hatred in their hearts always die not happy campers. Those with peace and resignation die peacefully. Being Catholic i've always prayed for my patients whether good or bad always believing in God's mercy. I definitely recommend this book.
I love reading personal stories of people dealing with medical issues, especially end-of-life issues. The author is an RN who spent many years as an Emergency Room nurse and several as a Hospice nurse. Although most of the accounts are heart-warming, there are a few that suggest that not everyone will have a peaceful transition, or the Heaven outcome they want.
A very fascinating book I could not put it down. Very well written by a wonderful Hospice Nurse. When you read it you will understand how rewarding of a job working in hospice is and how much love and compassion there is from family and patient's A must read
As an old geriatric nurse I enjoyed the rich mix of stories, from the beautiful and serene to the scared and scary.I think the wording is such that even the non medical type readers will enjoy this book.
An Army in Heaven is a beautifully written, thought provoking, and emotionally uplifting book about life, death, and life after death. Ms. Jankowski uses her amazing nursing skills to get her patients to freely share their stories with her. There are stories of angels and demons, of those who have died and returned, and the wonders they have seen; stories of those as they approach death, and the things they experience. The stories are riveting, and I had a hard time putting this book down!
This was a genuine read.... the last chapter about the demon inside a dying man, rearing its ugly head and literally howling and spewing things that were hurtful and real was just something I have never read about ( well I guess except for in the Bible) ... and this particular book has a different vantage point other than a NDE testimonial in that it deals with the transition from the body to the spirit...I particularly like the testimony of the man who, although was a Christian, was very afraid of death, flat out seemed terrified and not ready....he was scared he wasnt gonna make the cut....but as he was about to pass, he suddenly was so excited and wanted to tell everyone to not be afraid at all, nothing to be afraid of as he described what he was seeing totally comforted him.
The stories contained in this book are intriguing, informative and hope-inspiring about what happens to us when we leave this physical plane. Hospice nurses are on the front-line, even more so than medical doctors since they have the luxury to talk with patients at length as they are comforting them and taking care of their needs. The information in this book is golden and I hope more and more professionals that work in this role share their testimonies of patient encounters with Jesus and the afterlife so that the general public can be more aware and intentional about their lives while there is still time.
This was a truly great book, and I would highly recommend it to anyone dealing with life and death issues, or just curious about end of life issues. It stated out slow, then crescendoed in the middle, and I couldn't put it down.Amazing read!
