The kindle edition is terrible! This edition is a horrible mess--paragraphs and sections of chapters are out of order, images are missing or mislabeled, and several quotes are listed as "Text not available due to copyright restrictions." Also, it is unavailable to read in the cloud application on your computer. Highlighted links do not bring you to corresponding sections. I will be requesting a reimbursement.
I am a scholar, counselor and thanatologist and read Death & Dying Life & Living as part of my continuing work in thanatology for ADEC (Association of Death Education and Counseling®). To my utter surprise I was delighted with the clarity and functionality of this remarkable text. I have worked a great deal of time with bereaved individuals that are in the throes of grief, facing a loss or actively dying and found this an insightful and valuable addition to my personal library. This book allows professionals to authoritatively identify what they are working such as “anticipated grief” or allows you to employ specific societal terms such as “disenfranchised grief”. I was enriched by the significant exploration the authors gave the social, religious and gender- based issues associated with grief and dying.By exploring the background of thanatology the reader is allowed to address the many theories as well as several specific theorists who define grief, bereavement and the comprehensive process of dying. I was very pleased to discover that the authors give the reader illustrations that are timely as well as portray modern events such as 911 in an authoritative as well as realistic manner.I would highly recommend this book for individuals interested in the art of helping others with any type of grief or bereavement.
I have purchased this book both as an e-book and as a paperback as UMUC's course materials requirement. Charles A. Corr is a well respected for his work in studying subjects pertaining to death and dying. This book covers a multitude of subjects pertaining to end of life issues, but mostly concentrates in United States. One particular concern is that this book cannot be read if you open it through the chromebook's kindle app.
This text was required for our class and it is well written and very informative. Easy to read and wonderful though provoking stories.
If you ever need to know how to help someone that is grieving or needs help with bereavement this is the book is it!!!! An eye opening experience with the grieving process.
The book came on good time as it said it would. Its is in good condition with no tears no marks and no apparent damage which is always a good thing. The price for it could have been lower because when I purchased to rent it I spent 80 and went back on two days later and saw that it was for 41 to 50 dollars. I feel cheated by ....
This is a good way to rent text books.
Very good text. Needed for course
