Enjoyed other books in this series, not so much this one. Overdone on insignificant detail, so did not feel the text flowed, unrealistic plot. Usually can't put these books down, but this one has nt engaged my interest. It does show some development of Tom Gray, but really, who goes off on a death mission leaving their much loved daughter in the care of a neighbour who he hardly knows, in a country he has just moved to.Not finished it yet and have no inclination to do so. Pre ordered and looked forward to it s release. Disappointing.

"Gray Salvation" is the sixth in the Tom Gray series. I have read the previous five and enjoyed them all immensely. The 6th matches the previous five -- non-stop action and suspense. The book starts with Tom and his toddler daughter settling in to a new life in Florida. However, Tom's friend Andrew Harvey has been kidnapped from the UK and transported to a former Soviet Republic to be used as a pawn in a conflict between Russia, that former Republic and the UK. Tom's former boss attempts to recruit him to rescue Harvey. Tom is reluctant to leave his daughter and suggests members of his former team. Well, Tom couldn't remain sidelined, and off he goes. All the while a Russian hit man is in the UK intending to assassinate the PM of that former Soviet Republic. The story moves along briskly with a few surprises along the way. Very enjoyable and I recommend the series to anyone who enjoys this genre.

I have really enjoyed reading the Tom Gray series and look forward to the next. Alan's books keep you wanting more and this one, I thought, was the best because it focused on the other characters that evolve around Tom Gray. Great action and mystery with all many villain characters makes this a page turner that you don't want to put down, besides, it includes Russia.

Wow, he just keeps writing good books! I feel like I know all these characters personally (not the bad guys!) And I think this is the last of the series, which bums me, but if anyone deserves to retire and take it easy for a while, it's these guys! I'm really looking forward to reading his next book! Fast paced, exciting, scary and fun, all in one book. Keep them coming!

It's no secret that this is one of my very favourite series of books and that I do get a little over-excited when I see a new one coming. I've even got past the stage where I worry that it won't be as good as the previous as now we are on the 6th book with no sign of diminishing quality, I think my fears are well and truly blasted away now.So, Tom Gray has moved himself away from everything. He just wants to raise his daughter in safety. But when things kick off back in the UK and Andrew Harvey's life is in real danger, Veronica Ellis admits defeat with regard to getting help through the proper channels and really has no choice but to try every trick to persuade Tom to do just one more assignment for her and get Andrew back home safe. Obviously Tom can't walk away from this and together with his team - faces old and new - set about on his latest and deadliest mission to date.Well, I totally whizzed through this book. Started early one Sunday and read until it was time to go for lunch. Then, because it was my brother's birthday, he wanted to stay for another drink so I did what I never do, what I consider a bit on the rude side. I downloaded it to my phone and carried on reading. I know, I'm bad, but the story was so good I needed to carry on (and he was watching the cricket anyway). Once again, the quality is spot on, the plotting tight, the characters brilliant and the action level high. The politics is believable - this author really knows how to write stories that are so believable cos they are so credible. These things really could happen. And that's what makes them scary. And that's what makes this series brilliant. As with all good series and this one in particular these books are much better read in order. Although the story stands up in itself, there is a whole history and backstory between the characters that, if known, will make this book a much better read.I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Tom Gray has retired. He's taken his toddler daughter Melissa off to a new life in America. He wants to see his little girl grow up peacefully but he's loyal and can't leave a friend in danger. He gets involved. Although Gray and his associates can kill ruthlessly when they have the need, they are on the side of justice. There's politics stirred into the mix and the powers in the land won't help when an MI5 agent is kidnapped and threatened with execution. Tom Gray is involved both abroad and back in Britain keeping the villains at bay and seeking to bring them to account for their crimes.I keep thinking Alan McDermott has written his best Tom Gray novel yet and he keeps surpassing himself. The characters are written with depth and are totally believable. The story is wide ranging and covers political intrigue, corruption and potential assassination but it's tempered with comradeship, love and the desperate desire of a father to see his motherless child grow up with one parent in her life. It could have been just gung-ho adventure games but it's so much more. There are characters you will care about as well as evil you long to see brought to justice. Thoroughly enjoyable and this one is going to be hard to better. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a review copy.
