I think I've read all of the David Wolf books. I like the location, and the story lines are usually interesting and the books well-written. While I enjoyed this particular installment, it stretched believablility for me in that the main character would have to be Superman to go through what he does and still be able to continually perform at the physical level he is able to achieve. I actually found myself talking to the book about the ridiculousness of that factor.
I have read all of the David Wolf books and enjoyed each one. I actually finished Smoked Out in record time. Was so excited when I got the e-mail it had come out. Wolf is a character that you root for and each book draws the reader in. Lots of interesting twists and turns. I am an avid reader (at least 4 books a week) and this is one of my favorite authors. Immerse yourself in these books you will not be disappointed.
Having read the first five David Wolf mysteries recently, I didn't have to wait too long for my next fix. I even received an email from the author Jeff Carson alerting me to the new book. While you don't have to read each book in order, I did for this series. I like the protagonist David Wolf. He's a likable guy who makes mistakes but he always has his deputies' backs. It's an easy read but it's the type of book that you won't want to put down but then, when you are finished you're disappointed that it's over. So grab a drink, settle down and enjoy the read.
Jeff Carson just keeps getting better. Smoked Out the continuation of Cold Lake was on the edge of your seat suspense filled with many twists and turns. My eyes were glued to this book. I just had to keep reading to see what happened next. I love this series and can not wait for the next one. I am hoping that Wolf can let go of Sarah and move on with his life. I am also impressed with the way Mr. Carson characters have developed in each consecutive book. The whole series is worth reading and the money spent.
Just finished “Smoked Out book 6 of the David Wolf series. Great book, plenty of intrigue with twists and turns. It is one of those books you can’t put down, and you just keep reading. If you haven’t read Jeff Carson’s the previous David Wolf books, I would seriously suggest you do. The previous five books are a continuous story of David Wolf’s life as a sheriff life, the characters, and crimes he is involved with. They are all must reads and lend insight to Smoked Out. Thoroughly enjoyed them all, and waiting for his next addition.
Book 6 is definitely a continuation of book 5 and should be read as such. It still amazes me that this little slice of land in the middle of the Rocky Mountains has attracted the criminal element on world level and involves crime and corruption of an unheard of level in places you would least expect to find it. If you have read this far this is a must read as it brings a closure to book 5...Of does it? Look for book 7 in the Spring of 2015.
Wow, these books, this series, just keeps getting better and better. I love David Wolf. He's a no nonsense cop that knows how to get the job done. He's loyal to his friends and coworkers, and won't stand for the bad guys getting away with anything. This story continues the Cold Lake story. Wolf is seriously injured, but manages (with help from his friends) to figure out who killed his ex-wife and take down the cartel working in his town. Wolf is a wonderful character the reader is eager to root for. There is depth there, for almost all the characters. The plot is well written with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. And there is plenty of action here with Wolf on the run from the FBI through most of the book. It's hard to tell who the bad guys are, surprises throughout the book. This is a great read, fast paced and so well written. I highly recommend reading these books in sequence to appreciate how all the characters fit together and understand the hardships they face. I'm anxious to start the next book and hope Jeff Carson is writing quickly, cause I don't want to be without a Wolf novel to read!
I really like this book; it is the best in the series. This one had lots of action and I wasn't sure where it was going for a bit. But it all worked out in the end. Lots of issues were cleared up with no big cliff hangers in this one. The author is getting better with each book...not as many grammatical errors in this one. The next one should be great.
