Yes this is a book I had to buy, so whether I liked it or not it doesn't really matter! But I actually did like it. It had a nice refresher for some things and the new concepts were easily understood. It also is a handy size, easily put in your purse, bag whatever. Glad my professor chose this book.
I am math challenged. I am studying for the VTNE and this book is perfect for me. I needed to start from the very bottom and this book and through the evolve program is really helping me get where I need to be. I highly recommend it. I also like the plastic cover for long life of the book.
I was very happy with this pocket sized book that explains in plain, non-math-type-person language how to do simple algebraic equations, corret your decimals and fractions, how to and then a few exercises with answers. I wish I'd had this in 8th grade, and it is an excellent review book for those of us who lose track of the numbers and "cancels" in our l o n g equations with too many L, mL, minutes, hours, etc. Worth the buy, even if not required.
It has lots of problems and situations but I feel like the author needs to add problems for exotics (rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, ferrets,reptiles, amphibians, avians etc..) and also word problems for farm animals (horses, cattle, sheep, goats, etc.....) I gave it 4 stars because those situations were missing. Also when explaining how to do problems it skips lots of steps though.UPDATE: As I have gotten further into the book there was problems about exotics such as guinea pigs rats etc... but just not enough. I am up to Chapter 16, I have only seen one problem involving a horse and that was in an example. So it does need more problems dealing with farm animals.
I got this book because i needed to study for a test, and the simple ways that the book explains scientific notation and dilutions and solutions makes it really easy to memorize. I really liked it. I only wish it would have more problems to practice on.
This book was not a part of my curriculum, but my instructors recommended it to me and my classmates to supplement to haematology. I found this book very helpful and informative. I skipped the first few chapters regarding basic math, but others told me it was good review and helped cement the basic concepts that are built on later throughout the book. I have since finished tech school and passed my national board exam. I am extremely grateful that I made this purchase and would recommend this book to everybody.
It's a very helpful book with many of the calculations that you will need to use throughout your school career/ actual career. I'm not a math genius by any means, so I bought this book as an aid to help me. I'm glad I did. The best part is how small and light it is.The shipment came on time, the book was in great condition and there was no trouble at all with the payment or receiving it.
I'm a beginning Vet Tech student. Many of these calculations are from high school days but the author makes them much easier to understand. The book clearly walks thru the steps of a problem and then shows the answer on the same page so you don't have to flip back and forth thru the pages. I even learned a new, easier way of finding lowest common denominators! I highly recommend this book for new students and more mature learners that could use a fresh approach.
