I am a Theology student and believe me this is a good source to be recommended for other students studying religion. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to know more than the basics about a religion.
This book is not written from the perspective of each religion, or from a neutral position, as it should be. I has several mistakes, and even leaves out at least one major holiday for Islam. I'm glad I had a great professor to fill the gaps.
This was purchased for a required class. It arrived on time, in great shape. And I got an 'A' in the class. It's not the easiest read but it wasn't that difficult either. Since I took the class I have referred back to the book only a few times to learn about work mates religions which was helpful!!
Book did come in new. But since it's a paperback it does get bended along the edges after a short period of time. But then again it depends how you take care of it.As far as the material that is given, I just finished reading about the 1st chapter on Hinduism, and it covers a whole lot of background from the earliest times to modern days.
Actually a pretty good book to read about other peoples' religions. Even if you aren't taking the class in college right now I would still have read some stuff. It really did give some clarity as to how and why some cultures behave the way they do.
Required, for my class. However it is a very interesting book full of information about each religion, and its branches.
info about religions all around the world. very eye opening. love this subject. we are all more connected and alike than tend we think.
Bought it for a class I had to take in college. It's an introductory-level textbook that's easy to read and understand.
