I love this program and I am just started with my 5 year old son on it, but the teacher's guide is not needed. The book for the kids is VERY SELF EXPLANATORY. You WILL NOT need this teachers's guide.Looking through it, each lesson it simply tells you to tell your child to do the work, and explains how he should draw an O, p, q, etc. On some lessons, such as C for Cat, it tells you a short paragraph about a cat in the teachers guide. Yeah....that's the only difference between the student guide and teachers guide. Each lesson in the Teacher's Guide also tells you to "color the beak on the bird red, and the feet yellow", etc. these are the ONLY instructions NOT in the student guide. I tihnk you could probably let your child color the blank pictures any way they seem fit, as it doesn't have anything to do with their writing skills, or tell them certain colors if you want to test their knowledge of colors. This book is pretty much worthless. It has ONE page on how to hold a pencil, which I am sure you can look up elsewhere on the internet if absolutely necessary and tells you to "tilt" your page for a left handed writer and to sit up straight. I already knew all that!Big waste of my money. If you are thinking about buying this Teacher's Guide I just wanted you to know you don't need it, and could very easily teach your child just with the student book.
I bought a couple of the workbooks in this series that I like. However, in them they give a strong sense that you need this teacher's manual in order to effectively use the workbooks. So I ordered this and found that the only thing it really adds is possible 3 minute discussion ideas on what the kids write about (Bible scriptures). The rest is common sense or already covered in the workbooks themselves.I admit that I'm really LAZY so I'll probably use their scripture questions (have to get my money's worth out of it after all), but for anyone else who doesn't already have this book, I would suggest for you to forego buying it and save your money.
Some of the reviews consider this guidebook unnecessary. It may not be very necessary for the Kindergarten level, but later on it is more helpful. There are planning guides provided for the teacher and additional assistance, particularly as cursive letters are introduced and perfected. It is helpful so that the teacher does not have to plan for every lesson - it is all ready to discuss with the student. The guidebook also contains pages that can be copied for extra penmanship practice for the student. It is a good companion to the student guide.
to me teachers manuals are a waste of money and a way for companys to get more money, with that being said I thought i needed it but once i received it i have not used it once, maybe ill need for future levels... someone else may find it more useful
I love this curriculum. This book is especially helpful because it tells you how to teach your child how to properly write. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a handwriting curriculum, I am pleased!
