Not so much a study guide, as it is a test bank. It is full of test questions, but doesn't offer any explanations. Just the correct answers. Still useful when combinded with the clinical companion and textbook.
Iggy is actually the go to for every nursing instructor. I loved reading Iggy, for me, it was way more clear than reading Taylor's fundamentals. They both said the same thing, however Iggy was more direct.
I like having the study guide to use with the Medical Surgical book, but I many answers in the back of the book are NOT correct. I would assume that this being a Nursing teaching book and the amount of money these books costs, that the Author and Publisher would make sure the answers as well as the content were correct before printing, distributing and charging nursing students for their book. For this reason specifically, I give it only 3 stars. PLEASE make sure your answers are correct before publishing the books. After all, this is a tool used to teach future nurses how to save a patients life.
I was very disappointed in this "study guide" (especially since the textbook which it accompanies is great). Certainly there are NCLEX-style questions and the answers are in the back. However, with no rationales to accompany the answers, its utility is dubious. I stress to my students that when they are studying they need to examine the rationales for WHY an answer is correct or incorrect (this helps me, as the instructor, as well). The other issue I have with this text is that the content is narrow. For example, in the kidney chapter, there are pages of questions about polycystic kidney disease at the expense of other kidney pathology and nursing care. Broader content needs to be covered.
Strictly questions no rationales but does have answer key in the back of the book
This book is garbage. There are NO rationales to help you reason with why an answer is correct. Numerous select all that apply questions only have ONE answer which we all know that on NCLEX SATA questions have at least two correct answers. The biggest reason why I am giving this one star is that there are NUMEROUS ERRORS in the book. There are actually so many that I have noticed over 5 chapters that I can't use this book to study from because it goes against what I am being taught in lecture, and even contradicts the med-surg textbooks that this is supposed to accompany.Save yourself some stress and money and avoid this book.
Practice questions are great but without rationales, what's the point?
There are a lot of questions which is good to help get you thinking. The missing rationale isn't great and from our experience questions similar to these were not on our exams, although our prof uses the test bank.
