Coming from someone who likes words and has the ability to find pleasure from just opening the dictionary or thesaurus and reading it for relaxation, it is a great dictionary. Furthermore, it's for the person who wants a nice, hefty dictionary that actually has EVERY word that you'd need. I found it a champion for those words that you pass in everyday life and just pinch you to walk over to the shelf to look them up. This dictionary is also very easy to understand, it's authoritative, direct and resolute. Oxford truly does provde the concrete foundation of the english language. Be warned that it is not huge in size--if that matters, but it is FULL of words in a small space with MEDIUM print size that is clear and bold.In short, don't be fooled by its marketing as a paperback, it's CHEEPER than a forty dollar oldie that taxes you your verticle space, and suits people with poor sight.

Newspaper like quality pages. Naturally moist thumbs when dragged hard enough will smear the ink. When flipping the pages the chemicals of the ink get stuck between your nostrils for some time. And though your fingers don't get smudged, the smell gets stuck on your fingers as well.Oh but the information is wonderful.Keep in mind this is the British English version, which replaces words like diarrhea with "diarrhoea"

This dictionary is light weight and it fits in my desk drawer. I like the fact it has a places, people and facts section in the middle. I started using it for my writing as soon as it arrived. I think this book is well worth it.

Excellent dictionary. Print is readable and it's easy to carry around your backpack or bag. Great for looking up references on the go. Highly recommended. Great price.

My favorite go to dictionary to date. I'm not one to buy the latest editions unless I find something lacking in the old ones. So far I haven't come up with words I couldn't find, Oxford gives you good easy to understand definitions and I keep it beside me when I'm reading. I'm a nerdy bookworm and its frustrating when I come to a word I dont know while reading. Many folks today use online search engines and thats good and all, but I like a good old fashioned dictionary nothing beats it and I recommend this one

This is a terrible book. Almost no pronunciations to be seen.

This dictionary boasts it has added more than a hundred new entries related to computing , the Internet, and mobile technology, with over 66,500 head words. Big deal!! I bought this dictionary to look up words encountered in a lot of the reading I do. But here are a few of the words I've looked up so far that this "revised, updated, concise" dictionary never heard of: swale; fricatives; jakes; cloacal; foison. There were many others ignored by this farce of a dictionary, that I was able to find in my old Merriam Webster (dated 1962) that I used in college and thought it needed replacing by a more modern book. Oh, yeah...in the intro to this loser, the editors mention that if you don't find a definition here, just go to the online version. It's free! Should have done this in the first place before shelling out over ten dollars for a hyped up OED.

This is an ordinary dictionary. I have at least once looked up an "SAT" type of word only to find it wasn't there. But it is satisfactory for most uses.
