A Pocket Style Manual is a very well crafted piece of literature about how to write... well, literature. The books comes with a a sturdy spiral-binding if you purchase that option. The book is taller and wider than I would have expect for a book called "A Pocket Style..." However, the book is very well crafted. It is written in an understandable and easy-to-follow manner. The table of contents is fantastic as are the appendices and indexes. I have also purchased an online version of this book from another provider, as I have felt that this book's instructions are very adequate and without question an authority on the matter of proper format and grammar in English. It indeed comes with instrucitons for proper APA, MLA, Chicago and CSE formats.I would recommend this book, but I would also like to see the pages get thicker and the book's height and width get smaller.
As an adult going back to school after being out for over 10 years, this was a lifesaver! Great reference manual.
This was required for a college class I took, and it really helped me out. This was a big help with learning how to cite my research in my papers. The book is very sturdy and it looks just like it is in the picture. The information inside was very helpful for my class and for writing my papers. I can see myself using this for other classes in the future. I wish I had something like this in High School. I would recommend this for any student that needs that extra information for english. This information can be found on the internet, but it is all in one place with this little book, and it is easy to use. All the information topics are easy to find, and it is easy to understand.Once again I am happy with this purchase and I would recommend this to any Student that needs to write any type of paper.
I have had this book in my library for many years in an older version. This updated version is just as valuable and useful in my educational endeavors. I highly recommend it for students and instructors who write and give oral presentations regularly.
I LOVE this manual. I teach a university class that uses APA format and have a high-school age child using MLA. This is much easier and more clear than the full style manuals, which most people do not need. For college students, who may have to write in more than one discipline (i.e. history and business), this will be a lifesaver!
Worth the reasonably small investment for freshman/sophomore college students needing a quick and easy-to-use reference manual when writing college papers!
One of my favorite writing references. It has MLA, APA, Chicago, and some science citation method (I'm not a science person...). I had the 5th edition through high school, and bought this new 7th edition for college. It has a great quick grammar reference, tips for clarity, and great guides for citations. A must-have for anyone writing papers.
Arrived within days of purchase. It was so new I had to crack the pages apart and that's a beautiful sound for a spiral book. In terms of grammar books, no one does better than Diana Hacker, the undisputed Goddess of Grammar.
