"End of Life" is an uplifting, lyrical orchestration celebrating the end of life, right down to the last note. It empathetically parallels the classic book "What to Expect When You Are Expecting" enhancing understanding for pregnant women. "End of Life" eases fears and paints a beautiful picture of good death realities. Keegan and Drick compassionately open doors to novel ideas and explorations celebrating that death is not a hush hush topic. It needs to be embraced, honored with dignity, and regarded as the last phase of a life well-lived. This is not a nursing manual, it is a book that will benefit all who want to live their best life until their last breath. How you and your family can lovingly plan and understand before you get there. It fans fresh air on death and dying our best death. A must read for everyone.
This book is truly a gem. It is a rare balance of an interesting read with an incredible integration of factual information. As a person who works with geriatric and long term care nursing I find that it could serve as a valuable resource to nursing home staff for holistic palliative/end of life care measures. A wonderful and unique contribution!Charlotte Eliopoulos RN, MPH, PhDExecutive DirectorAmerican Association for Long Term Care Nursing
This wonderful book by Lynn Keegan and Carole Ann Drick is a must read for all health care workers and anyone approaching end of life whether from a disease or aging. It impacts a change in our societal approach to end of life that is compassionate and caring and honors LIFE. The solutions suggested would make end of life care a transition of peace and joy for the patient, the family and the health care providers.
