I would love to give these cards 5 stars but I cant for the price of the cards these cards are extremely flimsy feels like construction paper. However the concept is good so I dont regret my purchase.
I homeschooled at the time I bought these for my 4th grade daughter. It greatly increased her vocabulary, and these were cheaper than Barnes and Nobles price. We did one letter of the alphabet at a time, and when she mastered them, we moved to the next letter, some words I didn't even know so I learned too!
I bought the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade sets of these for my daughter to expand her vocabulary. I like them, except I wish the definitions were on the opposite side of the card than the word, to make them better flashcards for tests. I have to create a test myself, manually, which would be eliminated by this simple reconstruction.
We review a few words with our daughter every night. For the words she does not know, she enjoys hearing the sentence and working through context clues to figure out the meaning. Her vocabulary and reading skills are improving and I believe that these cards help with that.
The cards them are printed on a high quality study paper. The definitions are accurate. The sentences on the card are clear and well written. My only problem is the words are too easy. My kids knew all of the words. They seem to be below grade level. I will probably order a grade or two up next time.
I have purchased 1st through 5th grades and we go over 10 at a time. has really improved my sons vocabulary. highly recommend.
Could use better sentences but very helpful!
Helped my child a great deal she is now reading on a 6th grade level in the 2nd grade. vocab flashcards i believe are partly to thank. i keep her a grade or two ahead ever since kindergarten and she soaks up well. the syllable breakdown helps alot!
