I know teachers who have been asking for a book like this--and here it is! Clear explanations, examples, and exercises having to do with figures of speech for students and a special section of teacher resources. A playful approach includes games, graphic organizers and other reproducibles. No irony here, this is a really helpful book!
If you are a teacher you need this book! Gives very clear explanations of concepts that sometimes students have trouble grasping. Helps make irony, theme, tone, etc. easy to understand. A great resource for middle grade teachers!
This is a great product to review elements of literature, and to make sure the student grasped previously taught concepts. It is only 48 pages, of which 34 of them are worksheets along with succinct definitions and examples. So do not expect this to serve as your primary teaching source. However, it does a very good job with the 48 pages provided, and I was happy with the quality of the product. We home school and use a spiral teaching method, so it was useful for that application.
It's okay resource. Purchased this resource and "Common Core: Complex Issues in Text" to supplement Rod & Staff English curriculum for 7th & 8th graders. Really searched and searched for textbook similar in structure to R&S on literature but never found one so settled on these two. What you get are worksheets that have a bit of text explaining a concept with questions...not a good way to learn a concept from my way of thinking..but it will do if you supplement with other resources.
Blah -- My students and I don't like this book. It is way below grade level and just does not offer exercises that mirror the rigorous new curriculum. There are much better books available!
I'm not into common core but this book has skills that skillful readers need to know and practice.
Just what I was looking for to supplement my lessons. I like the lay-out of info.
Excellent breakdown of topics expected for English language classes today. Comes with usable reading exerpts in the text as well as suggestions for expanded reading.
