This book is to the point and has just the stuff you need. It's easy to read and a great resource to read through. I have noticed that it doesn't talk about a number of things, such as EKG, but I understand that this is a concise reference and they aren't trying to cover EVERYTHING. Because it doesn't cover everything, it isn't my #1 quick handbook resource (pocket Barash), but it is very handy. The sections aren't always very intuitive either, so sometimes I flip around for a while trying to find details topics that for some reason aren't in the index.Overall, I would recommend it. It is a great resource for quick facts, but you will sometimes come across questions where this book doesn't have the answer.
Generally good but hindered by multiple issues with content and formatting. Several tables have their contents misaligned making them difficult to read and the opening section has several sections of text repeated (see photos). Not the quality I expected. It is otherwise a well-structured and useful introductory anaesthesia text. If they edit it properly then I would recommend purchasing.
Going into anesthesia for medical residency (I hope anyways :) ) . I really don't think there is one perfect book to get for rotations, but this little guy helped me answer almost all the pimp questions that didn't start with "I really don't expect you to know this, but...". This is a pretty easy read in a great format (question answer based).
I like the Q&A format of this book. It is concise but direct to the point, it reviews all important clinical questions you need to address at every stage of your career. It also has useful information like practical tips from authors, key points boxes, mnemonics and of course full access to expert consult website, which makes it available online at your convenience.
I have used this book for years now and have always found it to be a ready source of review material for my boards in the past and for the MOCA questions currently. I keep it at my desk for quick access when I have time to study needed subject area.
Great comprehensive review for SRNAs.
5 th Edition: purchased this paperback issue which has a link to an e book reader via expert consult.com hoping to use this with my Kindle AND read it in paperback. Out of luck. Should have bought the reader version on as the print book is in teeny tiny print.Of course Elsevier provides you with expert consult.com their e book reader site BUT then you link via inkling. Ok for iOS but a pain for 2 reasons: 1. ) because you can't see the ebook title in any other place but inklings library after several steps of inkling setup . I didn't want another site. 2.) the inking site is more legible but only mildly so and is only available in 1 font size- at least in the kindle format you can increase the size. Thanks also to Elsevier who published this text in a font size of 6 thereby making the e text more than desirable: Except that I hate reading on my iPad after a 12 hr shift and find its one size efont limiting.Back to the text -Excellent text: refreshing -rather read this than many others for its ability to get straight to the point. ...so why make it so.. Proprietary ? Still less expensive than 2 formats but really you are only getting a moderately reasonable legibile font on their e reader......and no: you can't expand the size on your iPad : it is a photo of the text enlarged.Would give it a 4 but for these issues : 2/5
so convenient to carry with you. the info is great and straight to the point. Great tips and hints to remember.
