I like these books to keep my daughter's English on par with her English speaking peers.She is bilingual and we live in Korea so it's my job to teach her English.Now,the only thing I don't like about these Sylvan books is that sometimes they have activities that jump way over the level of the book.For example, they may have basic word matching exercises but then in the next exercise they will want the child to find the main idea of the paragraph.There are things like this I have seen in all the Sylvan books I own.Still, most of the exercises are level appropriate.
1st grade books like are bright & colorfull which makes the child try harder academically mainly because it semes like a comic book at first glance when they do it! they will like it untill they run into a hard workproblem for them, thats when parents or gaurdians kick in! to guide them through, not give them the answer! this book is great! for 1st graders & slow 2nd graders.
I like books which can challenge. This one is ok. it will definitely work if your child is a little bit behind however if your kid is doing great this book will be done in a month. My teacher also said it's ok but definitely not the best one.
My daughter is going to start 1st grade this year and just loves doing this book. She breezed through 40 pages already in just 4 days. We have other Sylvan 1st grade workbooks, but this one seems to be her favorite which she asks for every day.
Definitely awesome.Kid really likes this way of thinking and problem-solving - game like study.She always happy to answer correctly 100%.It is easier way to be familiar with new and already known words.
Funny and engaging! I loved it. Exceeded my expectations. I had tried to get my kid into their program, by I couldn't afford it. Their books are the second best for my special needs child. I use them as teaching tools to better his academic skills. He really likes their books.
It's well done and engaging. The types of exercises can seem a little redundant, but overall we've enjoyed it.
I love it. So does my daughter. She even asks to do more work.
