Dr. Hoyte performed my hysterectomy because of a vaginal prolapse in December, 2010 using the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Three of my friends recently had had hysterectomies using three different methods... vaginal, abdominal and robotic. After talking with each friend the decision to choose the robotic procedure was easy. I was not the least bit apprehensive after meeting with Dr. Hoyte and his staff. I would highly recommend Sarasota Memorial Hospital as well. I left the hospital 24 hours after the surgery. Although I was prescribed pain pills Motrin was all I needed. I was already out shopping three days after the surgery. My body told me when it was time to sit down for a while. The surgical incisions were small and just mildly sore to the touch. I experienced no other pain at all. The only regret I have was not knowing about Dr. Hoyte's book Robotic Hysterectomy earlier! I would have learned so much about the operation and post op without having to quiz my friend, Dr. Hoyte, nor his staff. The book tells you just the way it is but in the simplest language so anyone can understand it. I consider myself "the poster child for the robotic hysterectomy"!
This book gave a lot of information on the subject of Robotic Hysterectomy. The downside is that the book is VERY repetitious. You will find the same info again and again in different chapters. Truly, this book seems like all of this repeated info was just put in to make it long enough to be thought of as a book.
I recently had robotic hysterectomy and purchased this book prior to my surgery. It answered all my questions regarding the surgery itself and what to expect pre and post surgery. It also answered many questions that a patient may not think to ask or may be too embarassed to ask their physician. I encourage any woman having a robotic surgery to read it!
I am so happy all of you had such good luck with the DaVinci Robotic Surgery. I wish I could say the same for myself, I suffer and hurt every day. I had the surgery done May 8,2012 and July 22,2012 found myself having to have emergency surgery because I had a total cuff dishisence, not trying to rain on anyone's parade but be glad and so greatful that you didn't end up like me or somebody else like me who has had life altering affects following this procedure.I almost lost my life because my OBGYN thought that this was the perfect procedure for me too. Be sure and do your research before you or anybody that you love makes a decision to use the DaVinci Robotic Surgery
This book provides very helpful information on the options available for women facing hysterectomy as well as the superior advantages of the DaVinci Robotic system. The Doctors writing this book are experts in Robotic surgery and well known in the field of urogynecology. They share their knowledge in a clear, easy to read format that will be useful to anyone with interest in the subject.
I an an ARNP who does preoperative visits for these types of procedures and this book goes over most of what I cover in that visit. It is an easy, quick read. I would recommend this to anyone considering a hysterectomy whether robotic or not as it has a plethora of useful information. Easy chapter headings make it a good reference for after your surgery as well.
I am a practicing Board Certified Gynecologist that performs Robotic Assisted Hysterectomy. Robotic surgery has become a productive adjunct to my practice that affords the benefits of minimal invasive surgery to my patients that may not othewise be apprehensible. The publication of Dr. Hoyte's new book, a leading expert in Robotic surgery, has been incorporated into my practice as an educational tool for patients. It has been well received as an excellent resource for both the preoperative/postoperative patient as well as the patient seeking to broaden their understanding of Robotic surgery. I highly recommend this book!
