I fell in love with David Baldacci's work years ago with his book Zero Day, and I loved his newest book Memory Man just as much. As a result of that love I went a little far Google stalking him, which is where I came across this Sidekick, and my curiosity was piqued. As it was a Kindle Unlimited read I figured I had nothing to lose and picked it up free. The Sidekick to Memory Man was a quick read that gave me a deeper look and understanding into the original. The Closer Look chapter unearthed new information on a couple of the main characters that I must have missed the first time I read the novel. I actually went back and re read the book after I finished with this, and it was a bit like reading it fresh again as certain things the Sidekick brought to my attention were mentioned. I really enjoyed the experience I got from reading this book after I read the actual novel. It was a bit like being back in school when we would read a book and then discuss it, the teacher always had insight that I had not even thought of. I highly recommend for anyone who has read Memory Man, it will give you a fresh perspective on an already great book.
This little Sidekick is the perfect accompaniment to David Baldacci's Memory Man. It gives a condensed version of the story, a closer look at the main characters, and why they act the way and do the things they do. The Sidekick offers a different perspective to the book, perhaps another way of reading more into the book than what the reader may have gotten out of it on their own. If one wants to look closer at the symbolism used throughout the novel, the Sidekick offers a little section on this as well. The author of the Sidekick offers their version of ways that the book could have ended in a different manner, or perhaps another way that David Baldacci could have added something to the novel. From what I understand, the main character, Amos Decker, is going to have his own series of novels. As I haven't yet read a book by David Baldacci that I haven't enjoyed, this is good news in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the series, and I wouldn't have known this little tidbit of information if I hadn't read through this little Sidekick. Thumbs up!
This was very interesting and informative. I did not know what a side kick book was until a friend recommended this one. It basically explains what the plot is, what the characters are about and the different aspects of the book from other points of view. It sends you deeper into the author’s mind and shared some great secrets. It does have some spoilers, but the reader is warned and they did not give away much of the book Memory Man. It helped me enjoy Memory Man even more and gave me insight on some parts that I missed. It would also be helpful to those who haven’t read Memory Man, it peaks your interest. It is a short book and was easy to read. WeLoveNovels did a great job on this and it is a perfect asset to Memory Man I enjoyed it and certainly recommend it to everyone.
As a lover of the book Memory Man, I was thrilled to come across this companion to it! I happen to really enjoy sidekick type resources, as I’m the type of person that has to read things a few times to really absorb the story and uncover things I seem to miss along the way in my reading journey. This sidekick was an absolute perfect complement to the book. It brought details to life I never would have uncovered on my own and really gave a new light to the characters, allowing me to really get involved with them on a more personal level. This material was well written, well organized and added so much depth to the book that already stood tall on its own. Awesome book, and simply awesome sidekick! Don’t pass it up! I highly recommend it.
I am a voracious reader and am a member of several book clubs - probably one too many. I read several books a month for those clubs on top of the ones that I choose to read on my own. It's no wonder that I sometimes get behind or, worse, get confused about plots and characters. I have found Sidekicks, or Summary & Analysis books, to be incredibly helpful. This one on David Baldacci's "Memory Man" is one of the best I've seen. With in depth analysis of the characters, fleshed out themes, and multiple discussion points, it is exactly what I need to remember what I've read and be able to hold an intelligent conversation on the material. Great guide.
I can’t imagine someone reading David Baldacci’s novels and not falling in love instantaneously. He masters the thriller genre like few others, so when there is a new release, you can expect a work of consistent quality. In this sense, this sidekick is not recommended for those deciding on whether they should read Baldacci’s new novel, “Memory Man”, but for those who are reading or have finished reading the original work. Memory Man is one of Baldacci’s most character centered novels. Amos Decker is a captivating man that loses his family tragically in the hands of a murderer. Suffering from hyperthymesia (over-developed autobiographical memory), his grief never lessens, and his appearance becomes an external manifestation of his inner conflicts. Forced to revive the most traumatic experience of his life every day, he becomes bitter and struggles to hold a casual conversation. As expected, such a developed, complex and deep character is composed of a multiple-layered Self. Anna Call’s sidekick to Memory Man unravels the complexity of Amos Decker personality and neurodiversity after the tragic murder of his family.There are analyses of other characters too, such as Belinda Wyatt and Sebastian Leopold, and even though they are not as interesting as the protagonist, it’s worth knowing more about them, especially his nemesis (I won’t mention the name to avoid spoiling the plot for prospective readers).Overall, I recommend this sidekick to those interested on enjoying the new series by Baldacci’s at its fullest. Amos Decker is a wonderful character, and we will most likely see the series adapted to the big screen and/or TV in the near future. 5/5 stars!
