Having lived in southern Nebraska for forty years I've had a lot of opportunity to travel in and through Kansas. I've had my gazetteer for several years now and I've really put it to use. This is an especially useful tool in finding secondary roads that provide a shortcut between one location and another. All the roads, whether gravel or paved, are noted. And it's also a great way of seeing how to get to out of the way places. As far as topographical features go, this gazetteer shows not just the rivers, but even the smallest of creeks, ponds, hills, and the like. For those doing extensive travel in Kansas, this is a great aid to own.

This is a book that contains a very detailed state map broken up over 60-80 pages. It shows practically every road in the state, even unnumbered dirt roads. It shows railroad tracks, power lines, and even dry stream beds, so you absolutely can't get lost (if you are a halfway decent map reader). I bought this book to use while storm-chasing. It was a must-have. We always knew exactly where we were on the map. It is not the kind map book you would need if you are just zipping through the state on an interstate. It's more for people who will be traveling off the main roads.

Once again, Delorme atlases won't lead you astray. Living in Kansas City, I often take excursions into Kansas when I want to get out of the city. With this atlas I can head onto almost any back road and not get lost. These maps are great for finding places that the basic road maps can't show. Whether you're birding, hunting, or camping, you'll find this atlas useful. You can get to Lyon County Fishing Lake, Quivera NWR, Morton County or any place in Kansas easily. Highly recommended!

These Gazetteers are fantastic. I live near the state line, so I have one for Kansas and one for Missouri. Once you get off the interstate, this is what you need to get around. And while not a true topographic map, they do have elevation lines that can be very helpful.

This was a frustrating atlas because so many road names and roads were inaccurate. Thought I would rather explore Kansas with this atlas than without this atlas.

As an American historian with a special interest in the West, I found this Atlas to compare favorably with the others I have purchased with the Delorme imprint: N. and S. CA, AZ, NV, UT, CO, WY, as well as several dealing with Midwestern American Indian sites . . . MI, MN, IA, WI, and IN. The maps, scaled at about a mile per inch and with topographical lines at height intervals suitable for the terrain depicted, are excellent. The KS atlas was as useful to me in writing about KS history and pioneers as were those of CA and NV for mining history, and the other states listed for planning mountaineering treks.

We use this one all the time in our field work to help navigate the back roads. I try to take it with me when I'm driving across the state so I can take a few dirt roads or locate the paved county roads.

They have done a good job on this Gazatter. I has been a few years since it was updated but can get you where you are going. They give Latitude and Longitude in Decimal and Degree, hour & minutes, which is a plus.
