As luck would have it, this contains the defective 2008 edition of the Northern Baja California map. Long story short, any name with a diacritic probably won't show up correctly on this map; you'll see things like Av. Crist bal Col n, Av Josø Marae Larroque, and L zaro C rdenas, which is quite frankly pretty dang lame - I would have expected better from National Geographic. More frustratingly, there's a huge logo slapped over the part of the map that shows the Algodones border crossing and the Mexicali airport, which stinks if you're trying to get to either of those two places.I'd avoid purchasing this unless could somehow guarantee that you'd get the 2011 edition of the Baja North map (which I haven't seen, but which National Geographic says has all of the typographical errors fixed - no idea if they repositioned the logo, though!).

I would not buy this map pack again due to easily spotted major defects on the Baja California Norte map. The South map is fine.- A considerable part just south of the US-Mexico border is overlaid with a huge opaque "Baja California North" logo across the area of coverage--you can't seen any border crossings or towns underneath. Algodones crossing into California? Not on this map. Mexicali airport? Not on this map.- Typos o' plenty when dealing with Spanish characters. Look at the towns just south of Mexicali. Nayarit doesn't have its accented i, Michoac n should be Michoacan. Mision Santo Tomas near Ensenada is spelled Misi n Santo T mas. Cataviña should not be Catavi a. You get the idea. If you're familiar with Spanish, you can guess, but you shouldn't have to.- The callout for the cultural center and museum in Tijuana is considerably east of where it's indicated on the large map, but is correct on the inset map.- And several more trivial items with location and spellings that are easy to spot within a minute of staring at the map.Yeah, you can live with most of these--except the logo slapped on top of the actual map area--but I expected much better from National Geographic maps. All of these defects make me question the overall quality of the cartography and the printing of both maps.

I needed a good map to take with me into Mexico while on my way to Cabo San Lucas by motorcycle. I use a GPS, but past experience has taught me GPS cannot be fully trusted in Mexico. Maps are usually much more reliable, especially if you find yourself lost or unaware of your surroundings. This map is probably the best you can buy for traveling Baja.

Just got the "Bundle" and it is actually just one map with the north on one side and the south on the other. For a little more I think I would have bought the two maps separately. That way each map would be used less and last longer. At $20 a pop that means something. Also I am curious if the scale is the same and what extra information is provided on the two separate maps. Finally, the information is indeed dated. Open source digital maps are a lot better, but I like to have a piece of paper/plastic to look at.

Sturdy and accurate map. Especially for a longer trip when the usual paper maps fail eventually, this map will be able to survive the occasional coffee spill.I review often and carefully choose the star rating in an unbiased manner. Star ratings are earned, never given.1 Star: Stay away! The product is either of extremely low quality, was poorly or even deceivingly described, or parts of the product details or description do not match up with reality. I suggest not to buy the product as your money can be better used elsewhere.2 Star: Well under expectations. The product is not completely worthless, but does not live up to the expectation a normal user would have given its price and description. Again, I would suggest you can find better value for your hard earned cash.3 Star: Neutral. Largely met the product description and details but I would not order the product again. Some particular features, its design or looks, or the price may make this somewhat attractive, but overall I would still not recommend this to my friends.4 Star: Nice product. All my expectations were consistently met. Good quality, and you get what you are looking for given the description. It's a thumbs up without the enthusiastic smile. Good product, but not stellar in any way.5 Star: Outstanding product. All my expectations given the product description were met and in part exceeded. Unreserved recommendation for a well-made product. This would be the kind of product I would recommend to friends putting my reputation as a honest and well-meaning recommender on the line.

These are excellent maps. I would recommend these to anyone driving in Baja. You might need detailed regional maps, as well, but for general travel these are fine.

This is a pretty decent map for Baja paved roads and many of the unpaved "roads" in Baja, which makes it far better than most hardcopy maps of Baja. Last week (Feb. 2012) we used this paper map combined with a public domain .gpx file on a Garmin 60CSX to navigate just over 1000 miles of the trails (and goat tracks that are considered roads in Baja) between the border and the Valle de Los Cirios. We rarely got lost, and the National Geographic map really helped us figure out which GPS track we should be following when we did find ourselves lost. Worth buying whether you plan to travel on or off road in Baja California (norte). If you plan to travel the dirt roads and trails, I highly recommend you also have a hiking style GPS such as a Garmin 60CSX or 62S. With only the paper map we would have become and stayed lost several times and probably spent a night in the desert without any shelter.
