Excllent book on everything that is the foundation of the United States! You can use the book two ways. First, you can just read it it cover to cover (recommended), and second, you can use as a reference. I am continually amazed that there are so few citizens who have read and understood the Constitution. This book helps you achieve both.
I am appellate lawyer who deals with Constitutional law and I bought this book as a reference text. This is a great book. It sets out, in a very organized way, the United States Constitution. It then breaks down each section by clause in detail, following each clause with a historical essay by leading legal scholars. With all the resent discussions of Constitutional violation by our government, I've already been able to thoroughly review several current issues. This book is an absolute must for every household with high school or college students. I wish this book had been in my library for the last twenty-five years. Gene Isom
I have only begun to read this book but so far it is wonderfully informative. I especially appreciate the translation of all the 'legalese' and the historical anecdotes. This book is for anyone who loves the United States and wants to learn more about how we got to where we are today.
An outstanding book on the constitution which recalls the history and legal actions that took place on all the subsections. This is probably the only reference you would need on this subject.
I decided to buy this book because I am very interested in the Constitution and the meaning our founding fathers had when writing it, instead of the bastardized version that most people adhere to these days. I also specifically bought it to see what they had to say about Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 and I am very disappointed at how little they actually went in to explaining that specific part. That is the section that talks about the federal government not being able to own vast swaths of land throughout the states unless they buy it from the state, with that state legislature's approval, and then they can only use it for very specific things...which are mostly military in nature. I was really hoping that the authors of this book would have delved into some of the case law going back into the late 1700's that talks about that very subject. Hopefully there will be a revision soon. I'm still very happy to have this book for a reference guide. I just hope the other sections are more fully explained.

This book goes into great detail about the Constitution and makes it interesting. It provides clear explanation and frames it perfectly in the 18th Century context.
