As expected, Eric and the FlightBridgeEd team have released yet another amazing product. Eric took, an intimidating topic, ventilator management and made it so much easier for me to comprehend and wrap my mind around. He made the transition from ground EMS to the flight world a much easier one. While I still have such a long way to go, I owe Eric a great debt for helping me understand alot of difficult concepts. I would recommend this book, and any of the FlightBridgeEd books, to any provider who is considering entering the critical care world. This book is a must have for anyone who manages patients on ventilators.
BUY THIS BOOK!!! This is a must have for anyone in the critical care realm. Each chapter builds up to the next one, and the conversational tone makes the transition to each topic seamless. The way Eric has written this book makes it so that it doesn't read like a textbook or a "flip-book" reference guide, but more like the light and easy-going tone of his FlightBridge Ed podcast which makes the material very palatable. He explains the why, how, and what of vent management that even the newest critical care provider can grasp quickly. More experienced providers will find this to be a valuable resource to have as well. I cannot wait to see what the FlightBridge Ed folks will come out with next.Cody Winniford CCP-C EMT-PTexas
Just received my copy in the mail. The book is great, as I expected! I have 3 of Eric's books and they are all well written and easy to read/comprehend. This is no small feat considering the depth of the material he teaches. This book is perfect for any practicing clinicians and those wanting to get familiar with vent management. I would recommend this book to anyone, no matter if you are in the prehospital or clinical setting. Great job Eric!
Once again, FlightBridgeEd and Eric Bauer have hit a home run. What is notoriously a hard subject to grasp, Ventilator Management: A Pre-Hospital Perspective gets back to basics. I am currently studying to obtain my FP-C. Certification and I know this resources will help me master then vent.
Eric does it again! This book is great for any level of provider. Whether you are a seasoned flight nurse, paramedic, or physician this is a great book. The style & approach with the book is different and that makes it great. I recommend it to all who provide prehospital care and ventilator management.Klint W. Kloepping, FP-C, NRP, C-NPT, AAS
If you want to UNDERSTAND ventilator management and have the knowledge to critically "think" about what is happening with your patient, this book is for you. Mr. Bauer uses simple analogies to explain difficult concepts. Every Critical Care Paramedic & Nurse involved with transport must read this book.
I have been a flight/critical care paramedic for a while and now I'm in medical school. To date, I have yet to find a book that rivals this book in it's clarity and depth. It is, quite simply, comprehensive without getting into too much detail. Most of the texts I have read are either exceedingly superficial or explore respiratory in rediculous detail, to the point where it is not practical. This book rides the line between these extremes with exquisite skill. It is the best text to develop any critical care transport professional and give you a completely practical, yet deep physiological insight. It gives you exactly what you need. Furthermore, i would recommend this book for professionals new to critical care as well as those who have been at it for a while. It is a must-read!
A well written book describing the basic principles of mechanical ventilation. Eric gives practical advice for ventilating patients with Case Studies that reflect various scenarios in the pre hospital setting. The success of this book is not only the how to ventilate the patient but the why, and Eric presents these concepts clearly as he gives practical advice for ventilating patients with appropriate physiologic goals.
