Read the other reviews, you can tell most are fake--no specifics, just general comments about how good it is. Some don't even mention web scraping and refer to the content as learning python.I had some free credits to burn and took a chance on this one. The format is 100% text in long winded paragraphs that explain Python language and why or why not to use a commercial web scraping technology. Some cursory attempts at instructing basics about the Python language, but not enough to qualify as a tutorial of any kind. Then it jumps into scraping without really discussing the data structures best to use in certain situations--they just magically appear in the sample code.If you like reading someone's side project that did not go under any technical review, then this book is for you. If you want to learn web scraping, just spend some time search the web and other free python tutorials.Again, if you believe the near 5 stars for this publication take a quick read of the other canned or obviously fake reviews.
This book is all about python and it is focusing on the sub category which is web scraping. Web scraping is usually used to gather information through the internet. This is great for researchers, students and individuals who are interested in gathering information for one reason or another. An opinion by a colleague shows that finding and extracting data manually takes a lot of time and it is a lot o repetitive work that nobody wants to do. Python has an easy to learn solution to this. Python has been around for a while now and has proven to work and it is reliable, which makes an appealing program for extracting data. If you have your project already running on python, it will be even easier for you to integrate everything. This is a good tool to turn tedious work into a few minutes of fun and still have everything accurately.
I purchased this book to learn the language in one day. It took me less than a day to read the entire book. The book was well organized and what I like it’s that each chapter had objectives and summary. The explanations are easy to understand and the sample code for each concept is exactly the sort of thing that I need to learn. I shouldn’t be surprised that the book made it easy for me to learn python, since all books that I have read by Acodemy has that characteristic. I would highly recommend this book even if you are a complete newbie on coding.
This is not my first book about scraping, but definitely the best one. I am attending seminars on my university on scraping topic. I found this book really helpful. Author describing the scraping problematic with a great and understandable terminology. There are a lot of lab exercises where i learned scraping with python in one day as was promised.
A good read and learn book for: In my opinion this book gives a newbie a good overview but is better in the hands of someone like me who has at least made first experiences in programming early on. The book has a clear repeating structure for every new command you learn and a real awesome logical concept. Real recommendation - as a lot of the ideas and possibilities behind Web Scraping were totally new to me.
Before reading this book, I knew pretty much nothing about web scraping. The exercises are crucial in my opinion and I recommend not going through the book passively, nodding your head in interest but not actually learning and applying what you are reading. Also, the explanations and answers are very detailed, which always helps when learning a complicated subject. If you want to learn web scrapping, I definitely suggest grabbing this one.

Very useful intermediate beginner's guide on web scraping!Helpful with clear explanations, examples, and summary as well as exercises at the end of each chapter. Organized and structured well just like a good course should be.However, a basic understanding of this before diving into this book would help.
