Okay, it's a world map, what is there to write about? Well, I'm writing this review anyway because I like the brown color theme and the fact that in each corner lives an unimposing map of one of the polar regions, world population density, or vegetation, which is kind of cool. I like to look at the map when I'm following world events, and other times it's good for just straight up entertainment. I was afraid it would make my apartment look like a college dorm room, but I picked up a 24x36 MainStays poster frame at Wal-Mart for $15 and now it looks good in my living room. Besides the dork factor of having a world map in general, I'm happy with it!
I bought this map to hang in my office. I liked the antique look, however the overly large National Geographic label is front and center and even more brightly colored than the rest of the map so it really stands out. The picture on  did not accurately reflect that. This is one of those items that I would not have purchased if I had seen it in person first.
I've always been poor at geography, so when I decided to improve my knowledge of the world I thought what better way than a map. I really loved the distressed look of it, while it still remains current (no ussr, etc). I got an inexpensive frame to put it in, and now it hangs beautifully on my wall.
I hang the map in one of my bedrooms and I feel:Pros:1. clear printing2. comfortable size and scale3. considerate additional information presented at four corners.Cons:1. Thin sheet, feels like a simple color-printing on a piece of regular paper.Therefore, I have no feeling of elegancy or nobility, no feeling of a piece of art, rather, feels like a duplicate. This Map is good to be placed in a college dorm. If you wanna use it as a serious wall decoration in any room of your own house, I honestly tell you, it is not there yet, not yet....
This map arrived quickly and in good shape. The tube kept it from being beat up in shipping. The map has great deatiling and a nice, soft, pale parchment background. We were impressed with the quality. Great value.
I bought this poster and the World poster at the same time to hang on the office wall at home so we can tack the places we've been! We purchased a few poster frames and cork our local craft store and tacking places has been a fun learning activity for our kids! My photo review of the posters might help to show the actual size.
I ordered this map recently for my room. I like the vintage color, and the fact that it has the names of many places written legibly. The map looks just as it does in the picture, so no complaints there. The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the way it was packaged. While I knew that the map wasn't laminated based on the description, the map (which came in a cardboard tube that kept it from being crushed) the map itself had a piece of brown paper taped around it. While I appreciated the extra effort, the tape was actually taped to the map, so when I unrolled it (carefully!) I ripped the brand new map. I'll probably still keep it, but now I have a rip on one side :(.
The Old World styling perfectly suited the decorating vision in my head, the level of contemporary geographical accuracy keeps me from getting twitchy when I use it as a map rather than mere wall art.
