Well done but we didn't use it on our October trip because all you need is Google Maps, which we never would have guessed. Just bring your mobile phone from the U.S. and keep it on Airplane Mode so no roaming charges. Then from Dooley car rental rent a Mi-Fi unit, which is basically a portable router. Got us around the entire country, even through desolate areas and tiny towns.
THIS ONE IS THE BEST!! The size of the book and maps are great. The book is divided into sections which are numbered and shown on the back of the book. There is a legend and index that makes if very easy to locate your areas of interest. If I'm looking for something I find the town in the index which tells me the page number and area to locate. Example page 32 4C. The font for names of cities and towns is large enough to see with out a magnifying glass. I previously purchased a fold out map that was terrible! This atlas is the best!
This is not a road atlas. It's a thin, magazine of low-detail maps. This is not suitable for country drives around Ireland.
This is a great just update guide to Ireland because the font is large enough to read, it include places of interest with the reasons why in 1 concise paragraph each. It also includes Tourist Info Centers, a clear legend, and an index.
I ordered this map at the last minute because I couldn't get the other Collins Road Atlas in time for our trip. This map was perfect, we navigated all over Ireland with it. I don't understand the one star rating it got because we were able to drive from Dublin all the way across the country and back and stopped at many towns we had planned to see. It was also easy to transport because it is not thick.
This has got to be the very best road atlas that I've ever bought. The scale is terrific; 1:328,000 (1" = 5.2 miles or 1 cm = 3.28 km). The pages aren't cluttered with too much information and it's easy to read and find what you're looking for. I had a Michelin map when I traveled in Germany and it was terrible. They tried to cram way too much stuff on a page and it was very difficult to find the town you were looking for. Bar none, I think Collins does the road maps better than anyone else.
This is a great atlas. In Ireland there are hardly any signs on the backroads so important to this atlas use with a Garmin so you can be sure you know exactly where you are. Good size, easy to carry with you on plane and in car.
This was SO hard to find, finally -- preparing for a great trip and wanted a detailed map with all the nooks, crannies and back roads. Still love a good paper map/atlas to see where everything is in relation to where I am when in a new place.
