I bought two of these to replace two non-spiral bound versions dating from the early 90s. I figured there had probably been a change or two since then.The good: Maps are larger, clear, and easy to follow.The bad: As mentioned by other reviewers, many states are cut in the middle and you lose a bit in the white border and page gap between the two pages. I will probably re-order, but get either a large or small non-spiral bound edition. Oh, I use GPS when I'm driving, but for the planning, I'm a dead tree guy.
Most states are cut in half, some being on the flip side. Nice size, but I wish the details were better, and that each state would be a solid view. Also shipped about 10 days later than the order was supposed to be shipped.
My wife and I are very pleased with the Atlas that we chose to purchase . We are currently in the process of taking a long road trip together . We are going from Virginia the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains to the Beautiful North part of California. We are looking forward to the trip and excited to see different points of interest along the way. And we are very confident that we made a good decision with our selection with Rand McNally 2017 EasyFinder Midsize Road Atlas. We love the the design and the flexibility and the over all ease of use that the Atlas will provide. The Atlas is big enough and legible to format our lay out on the routes we would like to take. My Co- Pilot my dear wife is looking forward to using the Atlas she is blind in one eye due to being a diabetic at a very young age she has a prosthetic shell that looks just like her good eye. Anyways she really has enjoyed looking through the Atlas and is eager to use it. So this Atlas though there may be some that have some disabilities this Atlas offers easy to use for everyone. Yea and the price for the Atlas was very reasonable. Get your Atlas today I am sure you will see everything I stated about the Atlas is everything and more. If you are planning a road trip please be safe and reminder not to text and drive. The United States offer so many wonderful things to see and do. Big enough print that I could read it without digging my glasses out of a bag while traveling. Great size for in car use. Perfect for when GPS took us an alternative route (avoiding construction delays) and allowed us to anticipate our travel. Not overly detailed but sufficient for our multi state travel. Finding pages was easy. Only complaint was the eastern border of Atlantic States were cut off and a bit challenging to read (ie Myrtle Beach).
Good reference map book for traveling in the US. The maps are not as good as the larger maps that the large size book has but it is easier to carry and store this size book. I use a GPS and this is just a backup for me. I think some of the older books had a little bit more extra information and I know they had more pages.
The maps are almost impossible to use because there are no regional maps. State maps are broken into multiple parts on multiple pages. We went on a cross country trip out west to the national parks and found the book of maps unusable. You have to move to several maps to look at a single route.For example, going from South Dakota to Montana, Idaho and Washington state was impossible. We ended up using free highway maps from each state that we got at tourist bureau stops. Regional maps are needed, and each state needs to be on adjoining pages. The maps are useless for cross-country travel.
Nice backup to our GPS when it takes a unexpected "short cut".The detail on these pages are good for regular state to state, but you will need the bigger Atlas to really tell the side roads.
I wish I had bought a bigger size, with more detailed maps. This is easy to store in the car, but doesn't give as much information as I would have liked (beautiful roads, campgrounds, sites worth visiting.)
