The book is boring. It is a long review of literature and after almost every single study, the authors state there is "not enough evidence" or "not statistically significant" or "not theoretically justified" or something similar. I realize that we won't learn anything without studying it, but if almost all of the studies are inconclusive, why are we learning it? And they got 9 editions out of this concept.... Obviously, it is a text book and very doubtful will be read for fun. If your professor assigned this book, good luck. It is long and tedious and the author is incapable of explaining anything without using large words, most likely in an effort to look smart. It makes for non-compelling reading and leads to confusion because the words are repeated over and over again throughout the text. I hated this book. Especially ineffective for an online class.
This was a mandatory book to buy for my program, although, it is not worth the money. To much of the psychology part not the pathophysiology, treatment or disease process kept the book for the semester, It was a waste of money.
Great resource for everything to do with chronic illness.
