This is the book I used to prepare for the CNRN. I bought it on the kindle and then was able to have it on my iPad at home and my iPhone when I was away from home and wanted to study. There are great pictorials and charts, bookmark and highlight options with the kindle version, and very good clinical pearls noted in each chapter. I used a wide variety of study aids throughout the time I spent studying for the exam, but this was my go-to. (And I just passed my CNRN exam yesterday!)
I have been teaching neuroscience nursing classes for years. I have two previous editions of this text. It is an excellent, comprehensive resource. I was especially excited to receive this new edition and find that the illustrations and charts/tables are in color! The book is very helpful to nurses working in neuro patient care areas and to any of those nurses who are preparing for the neuroscience nursing certification exam.
As a new Neuro ICU nurse, I was directed by staff to this book to use as a supplement alongside on the job training. It is easy to navigate through and I carry it with me everyday as my neuro bible. Added bonus- our units pharamacist cowrote the pharmacology portion! Get this book!!!
Although this book seems to be full of great neuro information and topics, the amount of typos are unbelievable! It detracts from my reading and makes me wonder whether I can actually trust what I'm reading
Excellent for the advanced beginner. A wealth of information about neurological nursing all in one resource at a reasonable price.
Great for CNRN preparation. I passed with minimal study time. Also, the CNRN secrets book helped, but this has more unabridged info and more anatomy/ physiology. The yellow CNRN secrets book is like a cliff note version of this one, with lots missing.
The most comprehensive and current neuroscience nursing text. This edition includes many useful case studies, "clinical pearls" and treatment summaries.
Indespencible text on the subject. Clearly presented topics. A must have for nurses studying for Stroke certification.
