Allen's Nursing Home Federal Requirements, now updated and revised in a user-friendly Eighth Edition, is a vital nursing home administration text. Without exaggeration, it can be called the bible of federal nursing home requirements. -Christopher Cherney, San Jose State University Darlene Yee-Melichar, Professor of Gerontology, San Francisco State University Educational Gerontology [The book] lists all the federal requirements that are evaluated by state surveyors during the annual survey visit to nursing homes and for complaint visits. The exhibit section contains forms used by surveyors to gather data during the survey visit. Visually, the format makes the regulations easy to read. If nursing home staff used the book to prepare for a survey, they would be well prepared. -Marcia Flesner, PhD, RN, MHCA University of Missouri-Columbia From Doody's Book Reviews Nursing homes are now the most highly regulated environments in the United States, in the service of maximizing the quality of each resident's life. This book is perfect for anyone who wants to take the NAB exam. I practically just used this book in concordance with James Allen other NHA guide. I will say the key factors to passing the NAB is truly understanding the federal regulations, understanding the Life safety codes, reading over financials from Allen's other book (chapter 3) and going over all the laws and amendments passed that affect the LTC industry ( Again, Allen's other book chapter 4). However, this book is your bible for future nursing home administrators. Not only does it provide an overview of all the regulations. It also tells you the intent of the regulations and possible compliance issues for each one. It is very thorough and I highly recommend it. There is a national study guide that you can purchase off the appropriate website, but I got to say it is very underwhelming in preparing you for the NAB.

If you are taking an AIT course, and studying for the BIG national exam, this is the book that will help you to go all the way to the passing mark. Excellent reference material.

This text is an all inclusive for surveyors, nurses, administrators, ADONs, and DONs, and consultants interested in nursing home reviews. It details everything in the mind of a surveyor for a surveyor, and it enlightens anyone who wants to know nursing home requirements per the federal government and OBRA legislation. The text is written at a college level and is easily understood even if you are not in the health care profession.

Great complete compilation of the CMS Medicare and Medicaid Regulations, along with the CMS Nursing Home Survey Protecol/Inspection forms. Although all information in this book is available for free on the internet, most are somewhat difficult to locate. It is a handy reference book as well.

Necessary for Health care administers to learn the law

I was not sure what condition the book would be in and if the book would be helpful as I prepared for the NAB exam and becoming the Assistant Administrator at our nursing facility. However, the book arrived in a "new" condition and has some awesome information I need to know to do my job well and pass the national exam.

After reading the 2 previous reviews, I almost decided against ordering. However, I realized both parties review were based on the quality of delivery and not content. I ordered the same book and received it in perfect condition and timing. The book is an easy read, large print and an appropriate tool for study. Do not judge a book by it's cover, but by it's content.

excellent
