This is more of a syllabus for the review conference put on by the Cleveland Clinic rather than a true review book. Very disappointing. I returned it.
The Cleveland Clinic's Intensive Review of Internal Medicine is about the best such effort on the market in this price range. Unlike other inexpensive board review books, which license the name of a famous medical center but are actually written by one guy, this tome actually is a collective effort of many of the most renowned experts in their fields at the Cleveland Clinic. Each chapter / organ system is written by members of the appropriate department, which is as it should be. I plan to start with this book, plus the ACP's big paperback collection of simulated board questions, to prepare for my upcoming 20-year anniversary re-certification. Wish me luck....
They are still working on the interactive ebook with questions. The written "text" is good; very basic really but that is what I wanted it for as a retired internist. Organization is great. Well-written, concise, but fairly comprehensive. Check out the TOC online- pretty inclusive. It would have been great to have a section on nutrition since modern docs really need to know more than we ever learned; patients are very interested in this. Perhaps the Boards do not cover it. Office orthopedics would have been nice, too. For the price I paid, I received great value. It is, I think actually a bit basic, but if you know everything in this book, kudos to you! The review courses that cost thousands of dollars (the ones I usually do) are much more complete BUT VALUE on this purchase was great. I would buy it again.
The GREAT strength of this book are the questions and answers sections. The questions are very representative of a general internist's practice. The authors provide lengthy detailed and clear discussions of the answers. You get the feeling you have concerned coaches with you. I bought this book a few weeks ago and am now going through it a second time. What joy! Congratulations to Doctor Stoller and his talented staff. Gary G. Sladek MD FACP
Very brief info. Thought it would be more detailed.
Finishing up my IM residency. Sitting in the CCF Board review right now with this book. Very "concise" (worse, too shallow and broad to be of any use). Plus the course actually highlighted a lot of updates the book needed to include. I'd skip this for something more high yield.
It is like tips not a review.
too brief and too expensive
