I read this book cover-to-cover before my geriatrics fellowship, and WOW! what a difference that made. I was already a faculty member, teaching Family Medicine, before my mid-career Geriatrics fellowship. Our Family Medicine department's library was woefully understocked in geriatrics - having only an ancient, thick, impenetrable gerontology tome......so I left my dog-eared, underlined copy for my former students/residents, and bought a new one when I left for the fellowship. Six years later, I still refer to it regularly, but more often I refer to it to get the basics of geriatrics across to the other doctors I work with. It's a great book, but as a geriatrics consultant, other doctors naturally and appropriately expect a higher level of information from me. That said, it is a TREMENDOUS book, I heartily recommend it to all doctors and nurses and students of medicine and nursing.
This is an awesome text for professionals who wish to brush up on all aspects of geriatric care. I am using this book as one of my primary study references for geriatric pharmacy care. I would recommend this text for anyone with an interest in geriatric care.
This is a readable informative book explaining what doctors should know about treating their older patients. I thought it might be too technical for me, a lay person, to understand. It is not. The author breaks down the various age groups, in this the older stage of life. At the moment I find I am merely "old," not "very old," etc. The author also explains that each person is an individual and might not fit into a phase just because of the numerical age.
Current Geriatric Diagnosis and Treatment: is really the essential that you must have. Don't lose Current Diagnosis and Treatment because you will need to refer to both while Current Geriatrics will be the approach for Diagnosis and Treatment as it pertains the Geriatric Population. It's put together well so you have no choice but to use it well. More than just a text, it's a Platform of knowledge you will enjoy managing and working with while also arriving and comparing your diagnosis and differentials with those provided in each section. Lange has done an amazing job.

Importantly, it also reminds us how to tailor our treatment of many common medical conditions to the particular needs of elderly patients. Current Geriatrics is an important addition to the library of any health provider caring for older adults.
I studied from various Lange medical textbooks and Current Diagnosis and Treatment texts extensively in medical school and residency. I have found them to be up to date and packed with practical information. Current Geriatric Diagnosis and Treatment is of the same quality that I've become used to with Lange medical publications.
This is a kindle book that does not list page numbers! If you are assigned this book for school it will be difficult to find the necessary pages! My readings are given based on page numbers and not chapters. There are 20,000 "locations" instead of page numbers. Beware, this message is never conveyed to you when you purchase a kindle book!
