This book oddly enough was not formatted in a way similar to other books,with same edition and code numbers and was also missing a "key card" which was needed to access important info needed for the class.We ended up donating the book so it could be used as a resource book by other students at my daughters high school.We then had to purchase the book with the key card from the schools bookstore.I think that if a book is to be sold that requires an active key card that that should be a stated fact so the buyer can beware.I had no idea that books required keycards as this is a fairly new practice.The keycard if bought seperately cost nearly as much as the book.
I've been studying Spanish intensively for the past two years and find this particular text to be the best I have used so far. The focus is on conversation rather than just grammar, the exercises are effective, the mix of exercises is entertaining, the explanations and examples are very clear, the exposures to Latin American literature and geography are informative, and even the illustrations contribute to making this an interesting and useful text.
This is a great textbook for begining Spanish. It contains tidbits of cultural information throught the book. My only complaint is the Web Site Access. Though you have access to the site's basic conent(which is considerable)you must purchase a key to have full access.
This is a good self study Spanish book. It would help to have a little basic instruction prior to using it, but it is well organized, and would be very good to use with an instructor.
Perfect source to begin with. I like the supplement materials which go well together with the book material. As with any language it is better to practice often no matter how perfect is the book. I very much like the tips and learning advice on the margins of the book. It is something that people like to know to stay encouraged and have own tricks. This already had been found and compiled in the book for us. In the beginer course we will cover only five chapters. Then, I see, it will be a different textbook. I do not know why. Is something wrong with the following chapters?
Very reasonably priced and exactly what I needed
I was very disappointed in my purchase of this Spanish book. No where in the description did it list which edition it was. It ended up being the9th and I needed the 10th. So much for saving money on that purchase! I had to pay full price for a new causes I needed it ASAP!
Book was filthy, grimy, & had used food wrappersstuck inside the pages and dirt of a sticky personal repulsive nature. Lots of writing in the book and damage to the pages and obviously way more than "used" as described in the ad.
