Anita Archer is a fabulous teacher and this book is well done. Instructional strategies that all K-12 teachers should be using are well described in the text! We could go a long way toward solving our "education crisis" if more K-12 teachers were prepared in these mastery-based instructional procedures.

This is an excellent book for any teacher wanting to learn more about strategies you can take, specific strategies, for various areas of instruction. There are very clear directions. This book is designed for a special education teacher and will be something I use a lot in my practice. Each strategy area is very clearly outlined . Excellent tool.

As a 20 year educator, this is one of the most important books in my library. I highly recommend it. It synthesizes the most important elements of instruction. If everyone taught this way, we would have few problems in education. The entire continent of Australia has adopted this. If you are familiar with the highly effective and research based Direct Instruction, this will apply those elements to curricula not in DI format. Start a book club with colleagues and read this first. Anita Archer is brilliant and models this approach to instruction in videos.

Anita Archer has done it again! This is a wonderful book on direct instruction for special education and regular education alike. Direct instruction is an efficient method of teaching anyone. This book is a detailed, easy to understand and use, handbook for how to use direct instruction for all teachers. It is also a great manual for future teachers.

After purchasing, and reading Explicit Direct Instruction, I had high hopes for this book, searching for tips geared toward students with disabilities. The book was assembled incorrectly, with pages out of sequence. After browsing the chapters, I only read one tip I felt was a helpful reminder to me in my position. I returned the book. Perhaps it would be useful to a new teacher.

Anita Archer is a brilliant and respected educator with over 35 plus years of experience. Her knowledge about teaching is priceless. Her book Explicit Instruction is a resourceful and brilliant text for all new, novice and veteran teachers.

I love this book! She writes just how she talks in person. I have found Explicit Instruction to be very helpful in my teaching career so far. She simply explains her points and makes them easy to approach and implement. I highly recommend this book. However, I would recommend that this book work in tandem with a more open, explorative approach. Thank you Anita!

What a gem. I've been teaching for 27 years! But as the student population changes so must best practices. Your ideas for maintaining much needed structure while still being flexible to student needs is completely doable. Thank you for the useful and easy to implement suggestions.
