I have homeschooled my 5th grader for three years. She was struggling with grammar until I got her this book. She is able to work almost completely independently. I also like how all writing can be done in the book, no need to keep a separate notebook. That makes homeschooling on the fly that much easier. She is happy whenever she sees it on her daily schedule, always does it without complaint, enjoys reading me the funny parts, and is learning. It is not what I would consider a rigorous curriculum and is probably better suited to a fourth or even third grade level, but we had not done grammar prior to this year and I am very pleased with it. I plan to use it for her younger brothers as well, and am looking at other books in the series.
Great book for my elementary school tutee to learn about everything about how to make sentences more interesting and complex. This is the time for him to learn to expand his oral and written English skills so that he can perform better in school. He already tested at reading at nearly the third grade level when he entered second grade in August 2016.The student is motivated and skilled. He will do well in school because of his ambition. He is a chatty, friendly child.
My two (homeschooled) children ( ages 9 and 7) use these books for their grammar lessons and I am impressed with how engaging and fun it makes their lessons. I will definitely use these for my other children when they are old enough.
when kids understand grammer it makes english, writing, spelling, etc., soooo much easier! This book gives great examples and actually makes it fun to learn!
This is a great workbook, our normally reluctant 4th grader is doing very well with it. The examples are fun and get to the point. We have worked about half way thru already and it looks to be pretty complete in it's contents.
This book is great because it gives building blocks that seem to be lacking in some schools. The focus in schools is on reading, but things like basic grammar seem to be shoved to the side. This book helps create a foundation for a strong reader by showing how words work in the english language.
