Very, very useful. Covers the fundamentals in the first half of the book. Later on, advanced topics are discussed. This is a book you can use to prepare if you're new to ICU, and continue to consult as time goes on. AACN is the credentialing organization for nurses going for their CCRN too. So, you know the content is similar to what's on their exam.
I cannot say enough good about this book. Working in cardiovascular surgical recovery unit. It has everything imaginable in it. Covers physiology, all systems, post op care of systems, nursing procedures of the critically ill and nursing diagnosis w rationale. This is the perfect resource for CCRN exam preparation.
I'm a first year nursing grad working in a med surg icu operating in a hospital with 300 beds and a heavy geriatric patient population. We do alot of neuro and post op care. I swear by this book. Breaks everything down that you need to know in an easy to read format.
required text. not a lot of "bolded" information, or highlighted terms, which makes it hard to read. It does have some good tables, diagrams and highlighted important information though. but it's a hard read.
This book was recommended to me by multiple seasoned ICU nurses. I'll be a new grad starting in ICU in a few months so I'm getting started in it. Very thorough text book. Worth every penny if you know you'll be in ICU
For being a brand new ICU nurse, this book really helps in learning and making things make sense!
A great source of knowledge to keep at work when needing a reference.
I bought this because it was mandatory for my Critical Care class in my nursing program. My teacher required it on her syllabus, but doesn't use it much in class. I don't mind though because it has so much information in here. It is very easy to read and understand and really provides me with extra information that my professor may not cover. It has helped me so much on my exams, and just makes the concepts so much more clear.
