It is vital for NPs and PAs to be highly skilled in EKG interpretation to correctly identify high-risk patients and to make appropriate clinical decisions. This reference book is the first to present a comprehensive, multifaceted approach to EKG interpretation, covering all major topics required for expertise in this area. Based on a physiologic approach that facilitates in-depth understanding, the text includes clinical scenarios that may be seen in practice, and firmly links the information found in the EKG printout to the patient's symptoms. It clearly presents the gamut of requisite topics in EKG interpretationófrom basic to complexóincluding topics not customarily addressed in depth, such as supraventricular tachycardias and pacemaker EKGs. The book's multifaceted approach to EKG interpretation is enhanced with new approaches and recommendations, charts, and tables. Review questions at the end of each chapter enable students to identify problem areas. This book helps NPs, PAs, and other health professionals master their EKG interpretation skills and apply them with confidence every day. This book stands out as easy to read, very concise and good for grad students or those looking to master the EKG. There was good use of graphics for those who are more of a visual learner, yet plenty of text explanation for those who prefer that method. As someone who works in medical education, I would recommend this book for coursework or for those who need to have a reference on their book shelf for continuing education.

This text is a perfect guide for both nurse pracitioners and physicians assistants who desire to develop a comprehensive understanding of EKGs. The format of the book is well organized into coherent parts and chapters that follow a practical and meanginful sequence. It offers the reader a concise and easy-to-read manual that facilitates mastery of reading EKGs. Diagrams are extremely helpful and well placed. Perfect text for both graduate students and those who currently practice in the cardiovascular field. Review questions at the end of each chapter allow opportunities for the student to summarize and clarify main points before moving on to the next section.

There are better books on the market. This one does not offer clear explanations. The EKG descriptions are written on different pages from the strips. A little more thought to placement would have helped. Overall not worth the money.

Somewhat disappointed. It's a bit annoying the EKGs don't have captions of what they're demonstrating under them. Then I got to: "Count how many QRS complexes there are in a 6-second rhythm strip, printed along the bottom of most EKGs. This number can be divided by 2, multiplied by 10, and results in an accurate estimation of heart rate." No...there are 60 seconds in a minute. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 6 seconds x 10 = 60 seconds, yes? There's no need to divide anything by 2. Now I don't trust anything else I'm reading.

Essential book for mid levels. I have been in the cardiology field for 6 years and this book has helped me become confident in rhythm patterns I have had difficulty interpreting in the past. Very concise and easy to understand. This will be the only EKG book you will need.

Extremely beneficial for learning and understanding all aspects of an EKG. The illustrations along with the text make this book easy to understand, even for beginners. I work in a device clinic, and the section covering peacemakers and defibrillators was outstanding. So few people completely understand interpreting EKGs for patients with pacemakers, but this author does an exceptional job explaining this.

Bought this book for my EKG class. Does a great job explaining difficult topics like axis determination and differentiation of supraventricular arrhythmias. The clinical points throughout the text allow for a real life application of knowledge in every day practice. Definitely the most helpful text I've used so far.
