While I found this to be useful, I wouldn't say it is excellent. I have my students complete it each day as a warm-up, but we never do Day 5, which is a writing prompt, because I find the prompts to be too simplistic and not focused on evidence based writing called for by the Common Core State Standards. All of the questions for Days 1-4 are multiple choice, which also has some limitations. I do like the variety of genres and how each day for the week is the same topic. I also think most of the topics are engaging for students of this age.
This book will carry your child through the entire school year. I used it with my homeschooler. My child scored great on the standardized test. This book is great. It takes the guess-work out of planning each day.
I love this book. I homeschool my son and it is perfect for daily lessons. I would recommend it to anyone that is homeschooling
