Students love this text. It has five exercises on each group of 10 words so you can see them used in various contexts. The definition of each word isn't handed out freely; you have to infer the meaning from two sentences in which it's used. This leads to a deeper understanding of the connotation and usage of the word. There is also a learning lab online with more exercises. My advice, though, is that you buy this book from the publisher, Townsend Press, if you have a bit more time. They deserve the business for putting together great series of reading, vocabulary, and writing books. (I needed this one in a hurry so I turned to my faithful and still got a decent price. But they're much cheaper from Townsend Press.
I've used other versions of this text to teach vocabulary in my writing class. The format of these texts gives students a variety of practices to solidify the new words in their memory..Great text!
It's good book for beginners. It wasn't worth my time... However, I did pick up some new vocabulary words. I bought the book for a simple English . I had to drop the class after I realize I was really the only who knews English. IT was moving too slow for me. Good book for benginners.
I liked this book because it was the best textbook for vocabulary skills compared to other books out there needed for the course work.The book was in perfect condition without any tears, stains, or damage to it regardless if it was used.
This book is a great refresher to great vocabularly. It helps refresh knowledge previously learned in a simple method. I am an adult going back to school after 31 years of graduation. This company didn't have exactly what I needed. The book they gave me was missing pages I needed, but when I contacted them with my problem they responded quickly and gave me a refund and told me I could keep the book. So I'm giving them 4 stars
I purchased this for my English class as one of the text books 2 weeks before my classes started, but I had to purchase one from the campus bookstore because the teacher was getting fussy with me. It actually arrived 2 weeks after I started school.
