I was so excited when I found out Victoria was writing about her move to the country. This book is a delight. I couldn't take a break from reading it! That Molly is a lucky girl as are the hens. I hope she will write some more about her life in the country. I'd love to read about the diy on the cottage and the sheds. Did they find a dresser? I would love to hear more about the garden and to read more about the other cottages and how they are all decorated. The photos are a great addition. It would be great to see what the countryside looks like in spring and summer.

I thought Mulberry Cottage would be more about the search for a country house and the description of the house. There was a bit about looking at different properties but it seemed lacking somehow. Also was confusing when the author was relating the acquisition of her rescue hens. Initially it wasn't clear that she was still in London when she got them. The descriptions of her walks with Molly are fine, but overall I was disappointed.

This is the account of a couple (a writer and her husband an artist) who move from London to a house in the country in Suffolk with their dog and newly acquired battery hens (I asked my friend who has chickens and she enlightened me that battery hens were hens kept in cages (like our egg factories I think). It was very interesting and different from the cozy mysteries and light romance novels I usually read.

This was a very relaxing and enjoyable book about the author's return to rural living in England. The author did an excellent job of relaying her appreciation for nature and the older quaintness of the British countryside. Her descriptions made it possible for the reader to feel they were right there enjoying this setting with all its warmth and charm.

I love the details. They cover many different areas, such as the realtor, neighbors, and vegatation. It wasn't just about arriving at a cottage, it was the search for it, it was the move, it was the neighborhood and the cottage, and the change of seasons, the challege of the chickens, etc.

Victoria Connelly has fond memories of living in the country when she was a child. After 11 years in London with her artist husband, Roy, opportunity knocks. After an 8 month search, complete with highs and lows that go with house hunting, they find the cottage that is meant for them: Mulberry Cottage.Escape To Mulberry Cottage gives you an inside peek at the cottage they fell in love with, as well as the Suffolk village they now call home. Through pictures the reader is given the lay of the land. By the time you finish the book, you feel like you are a fellow resident in the quaint and cozy village.I recommend this book to all Victoria Connelly readers. Here's your chance to see another side of the author who brings you the books you love. She takes you on a tour of her village, introduces you to her rescue hens, and makes you feel right at home.

A series of brief vignettes (3-5 pp) about the author's move from the suburbs of London to a country cottage in Suffolk, with lovely photos by the author. Having grown up in rural New England, I found her descriptions nostalgia-inducing, despite the cultural differences. The adventures of Mollie, the chickens, discovering footpaths, and meeting neighbours--simple pleasures all--and the author's transparent joy in them, make this a delightful read.

Marie's Read (Marie Shirley Griffin)I thoroughly enjoyed this book with it's pictures taken by the author. As an American, it was lovely to read about living in a real British village. Country living in the U.K. sounds much nicer than country living in TX, where people drive out to dump their trash and unwanted animals (so sad the stories I could tell about the animal abuse we've encountered).Just a brilliant book for rose lovers, bird watchers and other gentle country past times.
